Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I went to that dealer and checked the car out on carfax.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Price is great - but looks pretty basic, and we know nothing of the history of this car. When a dealer asks that little for an '03, I'd be concerned. If it's a GREAT car with no problems, I'm VERY concerned.
I have been to that dealer and.... well.. dont know if I would buy a Porsche from them..actually I know I would not.
I looked at this car there..I ran away!

Now that 997S cars are dipping into the mid-50s, it's only expected that the 996 models to take an according dip in value.
Unfortunately, Porsche simply built too many of them all.
When I was shopping for my 996, I went there as well. After speaking to them, I was under the impression that they had a dozen 996's there...including the one Marc went to see. After trekking there....they had 2 996's there. Neither of them were nice enough to even slightly consider buying. It was a total bait and switch type of thing. They had a similar C4S that was silver online at the time....and it was not there when I went to view it. Similar price as well. Many of their cars are city cars. I'm sure they get a peach every now and then, but I'm sure it would be priced appropriately as well.
They gave me some nonsense that their goal is to make 1K or 1500 per car...a volume thing. Could that be true...I guess so. But the cars I saw there seemed not well kept. I would be very very hesitant. You can always go yourself if it's not too far. I'll be that car is not even there....IMO. (BTW...that car does at least have heated seats).
Good luck,
J
That dealer is very very shaddy, I would never buy from them. I've seen them advertise turbo's in the $40's.
just because the shaddiest dealer in town has C2's, C4S and turbo's at low prices doesn't mean they are good cars or represent the market.
I looked at about a dozen C2's and C4S before I bought mine from a rennlist member. I paid more for my C4S but got a car in mint condition and zero problems for the two years I've owned it.
If you buy one of those cars, expect to put a lot of money into them. Then it's not such a great deal if you need a clutch, tires and a major service.
I'm still looking for my car so I called on this one. The salesman told me to add $1500.00 on top because the advertised price is for in house financing only. Also he said ne don't know the history of the car and it has not been inspected at all. Yikes!
It certainly is a small world. I went to that dealer and checked the car out on carfax. I found out the car's history from carfax, clean title, leased and serviced in mass. at a Porsche dealer (clair). The service manager remembered the owner and the car and stated it was well kept and a good buy. I was all ready to buy the car, and then I noticed a few long scratches in the paint. The salesman noted them, but wouldn't fix them or lower the price- he said they paid 47000 at auction for the car six months ago and would not lower his price. The scratches bothered me (at least one needs the panel painted). With the optional color (cobalt blue), it may never match or will cost a fortune to repaint (also lowering its value). I didn't buy the car, but went with a CPO from my local dealer- the price was good (suprising for this dealer) and the car had what I would have ordered on a new one. I looked and drove cars from various dealers and I wound up with the one two miles from my house. Good luck in your hunt (the nearest dealer to me had a C4S for 54K, I drove it and it is a great car- silver/black, 33k miles, but they weren't budging on the price.)
I think the reason they are so close is a lot of people are afraid to buy a turbo out of warranty (not poeple on this board).
The average buyer would probably stay away from a turbo because they thought it would be driven harder.
I won't buy any C2, C4S, or Turbo without maintenance records.
There is a huge difference between the durability of the turbo, (or GT-3), motor and the regular 996 one. No comparison. Those are true dry-sump, race-ready traditional 911 engines.
