Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello all! Well it has time to do a full brake job make over. I got my new pads: Stoptech Street Performance http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=2022828 Front and rear was $126 shipped! Which I consider a great deal and seems as they are nice pads.. lots of BMW guys use them... Now looking for the most economical way for OEM quality rotors (have to be cross drilled) What would you guys recommend? I found these.. what do you think? I can't figure out whether they are cross drilled or not.. picture shows them as cross drilled but due to price I am a bit skeptical http://www.vertexauto.com/ShowItem/2...-%20Meyle.aspx What would you guys recommend for brake lines? I wanted to go SS, however people say they are more prone to failure... So what brand of OEM quality brake lines shall I get? Also, looking at brake fluid.. I have come across a brand called Royal Purple which everyone seems to like very much, what do you guys think? Andddd.. lastly... Brake Caliper rebuilders and re-painters.. who do you guys recommend for most valuable service? thanks!!!! -Paul __________________

POST 2Original post

Paul, I just got those front rotors today. They are cross drilled and look good, we don't have any experience with them. I have a track weekend in a few weeks so I will let you know.

POST 3Original post

I love my AutohuasAZ.com Zimmerman rotors, cross drilled. Just installed them a couple of months ago. Great pricing, great quality.

POST 4Original post

Paul: look up my friend Chris @ LC Motorsports, he knows his stuff and can answer any of your questions. P.S> You might want to try to get a hold of him before his surgery on Monday, he might be out for a few days........GL

POST 5Original post

Paul, You can buy from AutohuasAZ.com and keep in mind that you are not getting what they list. Many of those sites list the big names and then ship off brand components. Okay, I have OEM Sebro rotors for your car that are far better then what your listed site is selling (look like either Balo or OP Brand) at the dirt cheap price! Keep in mind that you get what you pay for and the Brakes are no Place to skimp on Quality. Our pricing on Sebro's is very competitive and shipping is very low (we do all we can to keep cost down to help our friends). Give me a Call [phone removed], drop me an email or fire off a PM. Even with my shoulder surgery coming up Monday... I can have my wife box up your rotors and ship them out. Cheers, Chris

POST 6Original post

Scott, Enjoy the upcoming LR event and I will give you a call before Monday.

POST 7Original post

Paul, We do caliper rebuilds and repaint (any color you want)... Really, the caliper rebuild is very easy and can be done by you while you are doing the brake lines / fluid flush (do not forget to flush the Clutch system as well). Don't believe the stories about the SS lines. If you want them go ahead an place them on the car. If not stick with the OEM lines... Again, the braking system is not something to cheap out on! The Royal Purple fluid is okay (we do not recommend it) and if you are just driving around town or general commuter stuff, you will be happy with it. If you plan on Doing AutoCross or DE'ing the car then go with something else... Casual Track usage go with ATE Super blue, more serious stuff go with Motul RBF 600 or SRF (only if you are really serious about it). Cheers, Chris

POST 8Original post

Chris- All very good comments. Personally I have never looked at or heard of royal purple brake fluid. Motul is my choice

POST 9Original post

Pete, You can find Royal Purple at Discount Auto Stores... My father & I ran some test in a Street Rod I built as a Teen... We run Motul in all our street vehicles (motorcycles as well) and SRF in the race cars.
