I just got into an accident and my damage actually wasn't as bad dent wise as yours, and they replaced the door and fender.

Sorry, I have to admit I laughed when I saw that as a friend backed his Hummer up on the street and had the door open....whammo...took the door clean off on a lightstandard....It sucks, but it'll be fixed I'm sure good as new...at least he didn't run you over or something.

Sloth is right about extra compensation for the repair/repaint.
Repair costs and the transport company should compensate you

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Your mention of the "A" profession twice, and use of the word "ergo" (phraseology normally associated with this forum only in the context of "air go, tire flat") might lead some folks to think that you're a lawyer.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was ready to kill the jackass, now I have to get it fixed before I can have any fun!
I just got my new 911 in yesterday and as the driver (hence refered to as jackass) backed it off the truck he loss control of it with the door open which hit a support pillar of the truck and bent the door all the way around!!! I was ready to kill the jackass, now I have to get it fixed before I can have any fun! Not a good week
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!
It would have taken every ounce of self restraint NOT to kill him, literally. Hope you can get it fixed properly...
Ouch, that hurts to look at. Is the 996 brand new from the dealership or previously obsessed over??? Either way, thats a real kick in the pants. You might want to try for additional compensation due to decreased value caused by body/paint work...
Stuff happens, but that's ridiculous. What was the rep doing backing the car off the truck
with the door open?
Sloth is right about extra compensation for the repair/repaint.

Not a nice way to start with a new car...let us know what happens and sick some lawyers on them if they stry from total compensation.
Cheers
What a MORON!!!! I couldn't imagine proudly watching my shining new p-car roll off the truck as visions of my first drive flash through my head and then...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are anything like me I'm a kid at Christmas time when I get a new car. My heart would have broken when the door went crunch - a scratch would have sent me sideways.
Wow, sorry man, that pic is painful to look at.
No way those hinges and the pillar are not bent. If you dont get an absolute A++ job on this you will remember this incident every time you close the door.
Very sorry to see this.. This car is practically new..
If it did bend or deform the A pillar local to the hinge boss', this door may never shut right despite competent repair..
I would talk to some good body shops about the probability of this..
Man, so sorry to see this...
I'm sorry to see this, what a bonehead. I would have really had a hard time not pointing this out (And in such an unladylike fashion too!) to the idiot. No way I could have kept my cool. However, from the picture, you are in for a new door definitely and without seeing the folds on your fender real well, looks like you are in for a new fender as well. I just got into an accident and my damage actually wasn't as bad dent wise as yours, and they replaced the door and fender. Make sure you push the issue of Diminished Value. And don't give in either...you've got a good 4-5 grand in damage there.
Robyn
You might have to become an a**hole yourself in order to get everything you want to get the best repair money can buy. Negligence is not the same as an accident. This was negligence. Offer to sell it to the carrier at your original cost... or go for blood.
I would make them buy it from me. If you are as particular with your cars as I am about mine then you will never fully enjoy the car. The damage will haunt your memory. As for diminished value it's going be a helluva lot. With 996's already taking huge hits and the 997 ready to come out what do you think's going to happen on this one?...probably $7-10K off what you paid right now.
I don't want to sound alarmist but with the car being violated like that I couldn't look at it the same again. Just my worthless opinion, of course
I too had my vehicle transported from out of state and I've got to say that those transporters would make some great mafia if someone was smart enough to organize it..... They took almost 4 weeks to pick up my car and then almost 5 weeks to deliver it!!!! What a crock, I called almost every other day after the 7th week. . . . I got every excuse in the book including but certainly not limited to: The driver is sick, the driver broke down, the driver could not stop by on the weekend so he went to his next delivery (several times) and Oh ya, he'll be there in a day or two....
So for those who plan on using a shipping service make a note: ALLEN AUTO TRANSPORT blows......
BTW: Then never offered any compensation for the extra month delay, although their staff was nice on the phone (they sound like little old ladies recruited from the church choir)

eternal, you have my deepest sympathies. I can't imagine what it's like to wait that long only to have your car damaged in front of your eyes on delivery. I think my head would have exploded! I sure hope they restore it to 100% for you - and soon!
I had visions of what happened to you when my car was being delivered in front of my house. I had shopped online for 3 months before finally finding the car I wanted in Philly. I arranged for a shipper to transport it to Austin. The wait was excrutiating and when the car finally arrived, I held my breath the entire time it was being unloaded. I had horrible visions of the car falling off the rear of the liftgate (see the photo). Fortunately, everything went OK and my car ended up safe in my driveway.
Anyway, the best of luck, eternal - we are all pulling for you!
Dude ---
That so totally blows, I can't freaking believe it! That would have to rank somewhere between an involuntary vasectomy and one of my dogs dying, and I'm not sure what order to place them in. Best of luck in getting it repaired to A-1 condition. Get multiple quotes and seriously clue in the estimators on the entire situation including your intent on damage/accelerated depreciation recovery.
I guess if there is a bright side (which of course there really is not), at least it is a clear cut case of negligence w/ no mitigating circumstances. I mean, it is what those idiots do, transport and offload cars, so there shouldn't be any room for blah, blah, blah weasel words by the transport company, their insurer or any attorneys that get involved. Max out on the additional depreciation compensation from them. As has been stated previously, we're at a nexus in resale value changes w/ the new models coming out in the next few months.
Jeff
The guy actually wouldn't own up to it. He claimed that the brakes failed, and then after it was off the truck they all of a sudden came back on... yeah sorry the brakes just don't do that. More likely he freaked out and slamed on the clutch. So of course the trucking company wants to have the brakes checked...
So far they aren't trying to get out of anything, but there is always the possibility I'll have to get the lawyers on em.
mother fuc ers sons of a bitc sh t crap fu k
i'm livid and i'm not even the owner! i just paid $2400 for a measly new fender and bumper/hood paint job, it was only a fist sized dent, and they had the audacity to not leave a note.
i'm livid. stupid mother fuc ers.
Once I'm done mourning your "accident", we should put a Posse together and get these scoundrels....get a rope! Seriously, I'm so very sorry. MAKE THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY BUY THE CAR. Don't back down, complian to their state licensing board immediately. Report it as an accident to their licensing department if they give you any hassle. Tell them you'll file a complaint the the state board of consumer affairs. Call your local television station, this would make a great story for the 7pm consumer advocate newstory.
The assho.e probably laughed when he drove his truck away. Go after them eternal. Don't accept the car. Nobody in my eyes will get a new door to operate as it should. The A pillar has to be destrorted.
Very sorry to see this happen to your car.
That picture makes me sick! Besides buying the car from you at full pop, you should get something from them for mental anguish!
Longhorn911.....I see you used GoldRush. Those sob's damaged our Boxster and the same driver damaged our friends 356. He's about 350lbs and can't get in and out of the cars without dinging the doors. He put his greasy hands all over our Grey top after handling the rear door on the truck.
Any trucking co. can have an accident but if you use Intercity Lines or Concours Transport the odds are less that there will be damage. These two are the real pros IMHO.
IF it is fixed perfectly I don't the value diminishing that much. The A piller did not seem to be damaged at all, Porsche seemed to have designed the door to break away. The hinges on the door ripped but the hinges attached to the A-piller seems thicker and did not move or bend at all. I'm awaiting confirmation that the only damage was the door and front quarter pannel from the porsche dealer, I will keep you guys updated. I appreciate all the support
The guy almost certainly got fired unless he's somehow entrenched in the company. I've heard examples from all aspects of the auto industry and these days, it only takes one mistake and they can't afford another. Chances are this bozo was already on the radar for other mishaps of a lesser magnitude ("unexplained" scratches or other damage) so this will surely be the straw to send this camel packing. Plus, there's so many good workers out there looking for a job, why keep someone that's willing to take risks and make mistakes?
As for loss of resale, I'd say $10K would be about the right number -- close to the fact today if you just decided to put it on the market (and admit to the buyer the car has had a lot of paint and new body panels) plus a slice of punitive dollars because they were asking you to pay good dollars for a professional job but ended up doing worse that USPS ...
I must say I admire your restraint and sensible handling of the situation.
Eternal, this is a JOKE, and they're playing it on
you.
I would get an attorney involved to help facilitate your case. The driver is claiming that the brakes failed... they're already trying to avoid accepting responsibility.
A simple inspection by your nearest friendly dealer will confirm that the brakes are functioning perfectly. Ergo, the accident was the result of driver error.
Their insurance company should eat all the repair costs and the transport company should compensate you for the extra devaluation. But, of course, they will likely refuse and perhaps you should refuse acceptance of the auto since this is NOT the product you paid for.
You better have an attorney carefully look over your transport contract...

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck......
Your mention of the "A" profession twice, and use of the word "ergo" (phraseology normally associated with this forum only in the context of "air go, tire flat") might lead some folks to think that you're a lawyer.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Jeff
...it takes one to know one?
Jeff, and with what context is the word "phraseology" usually associated?
BTW, did you also notice RJFabCab's overall sense of paranoia and pessimism? Yep, sounds like a lawyer.
Just poking fun, guys. I'm NOT a lawyer, but I agree that eternal should get one!
Quack, quack!
No *ttorney here, fellas, just another fun loving law abiding citizen.
Regarding eternal's situation, the driver is dodging responsibility and blaming p-car brake failure. If the brakes check out to be fine, then it's the responsibility of the transport company to cover eternal's repairs +/- extra depreciation.
If they come through, then great. If not, then you know what...
Cheers!
