Just make sure to stand firm on a reasonable price since the dealers, IMHO, should be really motivated to move used 996's..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok here is the deal, i am working with a local dealer, they have a 911 996 cab silver with blk interior/hardtop/heated seats/cd changer/ some wood trim, 99' is the year. price 45k plus tax and fees, kbb shows 44k low and 55k high, we started negotiating at 55k and have dropped 10k on it. wife already gave me the go ahead, have an hour to decide. please help thi car has 16300 miles on it. thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Assuming it has a clean history, full maintenance, clean PPI, and is the car that you want, what's holding you up? You've done the price research.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

deciding wether or not i like the 993's better?? i've read a lot of stuff about the 993's and the 996's and i dunno, i kinda like the way the 996 has features that the 993 has not to mention the comfort level of the interior. and since this is a cab it is easier to take the top down. i like the 993 because of the power but i just cannot decide on what to do! I sold my 87 targa a few months ago and have since been deciding on what to do. help!!

POST 4Original post

Does it have the Porsche Certified Warranty? If not, try to make them throw it in. It's well worth it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

no warranty included. i've already tried it but they just won't budge. so do you think this is a decent price, thinking that the release of the 997's would drop prices on these cars.

POST 6Original post

I personally don't think it's a screaming deal but it's reasonable. There are lot's of 99's out there for sale these days. Why do you have to decide in an hour? I would tell them if they split the cost of the warranty you'll take it. Otherwise, let them keep the car. I would not own a 99 without a warranty. Too many reports of rear main seals leaking.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

cool tks, decided not to take it for these reasons, i was in hurry to get it today that was the reason for the hour.

POST 9Original post

If you are still looking I can make you a great deal on my 99 Porsche Certified C4 cab. It has every option from Porsche in 99 and has a complete Porsche service history.

POST 10Original post

within 100 miles of SFO ? You're in Porsche country. Try the ebay search also. You can look at dozens of cars and make an offer on the best one. It's a long weekend. What could be more enjoyable ?

POST 15Original post

If you really like the car and you have looked at many others, mostly to help you easily identify a good one from a bad one, then go for it! Just make sure to stand firm on a reasonable price since the dealers, IMHO, should be really motivated to move used 996's.. enjoy the hunt!!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

my boss actually just bought one for 50k out the door, a 2000 cab with 35k miles on it. anyways tks for the info guys, i am still thinking about the 993's again but who knows i may go down to the dealer tomorrow and just check it out one more time. tks again.

POST 17Original post

you don't want a 993 cab. i LOVED mine EXCEPT the convertible top. it sucks have to put that on and take off that cover manually. further, they don't come with the feature that auto lowers the window an inch when you open the door and up and inch after you close it so you always finid yourself (or passengers) not closing the door or having to slam it since the window catches on the top. there were other top related negatives in the 993 that i forget now that it's been 3 1/2 years with the 996. other than that, the 993 is beautiful and more visceral than the 996, but the top stuff is just too much to overlook relative to a 996 IMO.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

that was one of the positive things that was making me lean towards a 996 instead of a 993. the auto top and the way it latches automatically when depressed was just too simple. wish the 993 turbos were in my price range, it would be an easy choice then.
