I've basically got to adjust my driving style to take advantage of PSM on the autocross track.

I simply prefer the mechanical feel of a LSD vs PSM's use of brakes to control slip.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked well during the autocross, which was on a slippery concrete tarmac.
I've search and read the many excellent posts on USA Standard vs. USA Sport and ROW Sport suspensions, the most comprehensive appears to be
this Panorama article
.
Based on this info, the USA Sport suspension does not lower the car compared to USA Standard. But, the information on the 40th Anniversary 911 says the suspension is 10mm lower. Also, the ROW Sport is 20mm lower in the front and 10mm lower in rear compared to USA cars. So, none of this info seems to match the advertised 10mm drop mentioned in the 40th Anniv car.
So, what suspension is on the 40th Anniversary 911? Is it really just the ROW Sport and they didn't feel like mentioning that it lowers it 10 to 20mm? Or is it something unique to the 40th Anniv car?
Pete,
Congratulations on your choice of P-car. I asked this question on the
PCA tech
forum. The link should take you to the answer. I don't have any of the codes on my sticker and I know I bought the real car. I guess I'll have to keep digging into this.
Hmm. Seems like Joel's reply to you was not very clear nor accurate. I don't have M030 nor M095 in the option codes on my car. It doesn't really make sense that there would be a suspension option code listed since there is only one standard suspension for the 40th Anniv car.
BTW - I'm the same Pete as PeteS on the Roadfly.com forum
You know, the guy wondering how effective the LSD is in the rain ...
VERY
The 40th Anniversary info you've read is a direct translation from the ROW info. While the ROW models are 10 mm than their stock counterparts, the North American version is NOT.
So is the 40 Jahre 911 suspension the US 030 Sport Suspension then?
Ultimately, I just want to know if going with the ROW M030 suspension makes sense; as in, I want to make sure the car doesn't already have it.
Thanks
Okay but can someone enlighten me as to the purpose of the transfer differential lock with PSM- the significance to track and road performance?
Thanks

I have read on another forum that this model has a different rear shock from the sports suspension packages, but no other information was forthcoming. I ask Joel, the tech editor from Excellence magazine and he stated that he's going to look into it.
Pete, I don't think you can throttle steer the car with PSM enabled. I kicked in quite a bit during a recent autocross that I attended. It is my understanding that PSM cannot be fully turned off. It will turn back on if you apply the brakes aggressively. I've basically got to adjust my driving style to take advantage of PSM on the autocross track. I do plan on keeping it on during DE's and other track events.
PSM doesn't aggressively retard engine output. This allows for more sporting driving. The LSD thus allows you to put the power to the ground and not have PSM cutting your engine output. It worked well during the autocross, which was on a slippery concrete tarmac.
I am very interested in more information and I hope that Joel can come through. I want to upgrade my suspension, but it makes no sense if I don't know what I'm starting out with. As it is, the car handles great during everyday driving, but displays to much squat and diving during aggressive driving. I'm also not really happy with the comfort seats that allow me to move to much. Upgrade or get a track car?
That is correct. For some reason, the 40th Anniversary car has the same rear shock as the '03 M030 chassis. Other '04 M030 cars have a different rear shock part number. This difference is reflected on both US and ROW cars.
EarlyApex,
Were you ever able to figure out the differences between the 40th's sport suspension and the M030 suspension?? Did you ever mod your suspension? If so, what did you do and what's your assessment????
