Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked my tie rods and they seem fine but the on center feels slightly less precise than before.

They say it will be repaired by Tuesday as they had to order a boot and they will align the front so it is not big deal.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have my car listed for sale, (2002 C4S), but only a couple responses and so I have been driving it some. A "bump" and "tick" in the steering became more noticeable over the last few day so I took it to Park Place Porsche. It needs a new rack and pinions system. Apparently a tooth problem I think as it happens at the same point each time and it you turn the wheel far enough it will bump again.
Anyone else have a problem with the rack and pinion? I didn't hit anything and I don't remember it being there when I got the car, but maybe it was very slight and I have finished the destruction.
They say it will be repaired by Tuesday as they had to order a boot and they will align the front so it is not big deal. I'm just curious if other cars have lost the rack and pinion.

can you explain what it is doing better? I am interested to know what the driving symptoms were. On center or at a certain turning part because of a bad tooth? i.e. left 3/4 lock.
what has been the cause on loose steering? I checked my tie rods and they seem fine but the on center feels slightly less precise than before. the ps2 tires aside. ps2's sure are mushy.
At about 1/4 turn either way there was a notchy feel and dull clunk you could hear. It was like cracking your knuckles feel in the steering. I don't know how else to describe but the steering is not loose at all. Still precise, good feel. I guess there is a broken tooth on the pinion or something like that as it is at the same point in turn each time. And when you broght the wheel back past the 1/4 point you feel it again. And as in the first post, you feel it at 1 1/4 turn as well.

I would have them SHOW you the looseness. It could simply be low pressure in tires. On the lift, you can easily have them show you where the play is (if it is there). Unlikely that the rack n pinion is worn out. Should be a warranty item anyway if still covered.
i will reach out to my local pca members, get some recommandations of local indy shops.
and take my car to at least 2 of them.
but in case of ppi, the tech might feel "obligated" to find problem.
