I'd just replace the head unit with a CDR220 which has a single CD and you can still control the CDC.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to remove the changer and stock head unit and just replace all of it w/ simple one disc unit. does anyone have suggestions on what would be sufficient in terms of powering all the stock speakers/subs? I dont want anything fancy...just simple and clean and have that feature where it displays the station/song. blaupaunkts (sp?) look nice to me, but dont know if they can power everything. i really dont wanna start getting into aftermarket amps and all that. i tried searchin this but couldnt turn up too much...thanks.

POST 2Original post

Which stereo do you have? The standard or Bose

POST 3Original post

I'd just replace the head unit with a CDR220 which has a single CD and you can still control the CDC. Factory look and you can get one pretty cheap on eBay. If you go aftermarket, you should definitely upgrade the whole system or at least amp. Otherwise, why would you give up the factory look and your CDC? Most aftermarket decks will stick out 1/4" which ruins the console flush looks. If you still want to go aftermarket, consider one with ipod and XM if you ever sell it. Pioneer has some nice decks.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just looked on ebay..thanks for that. my unit looks identical but is a tape player and not cd (cr 220) theres just one model of the cdr220 right?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

if ur talking about the speakers....I have the Bose w/ the two subs behind the seats....I believe this is standard on C4S.
