Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I am checking after I come back for a burn around.
Leading evidence: 'Check after i come back' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check after i come back' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Are you waiting for the oil to drain back into the pan before checking the level with the digital readout?

If you are checking when the car is warm you should use the dipstick.

I have to wait 1 minute for the computer to wait for the oil to run back in the pan anyway.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Weird. The stealership did a 40,000 km service and on the bill they said they put 10 ltrs of mobile 1 when the capacity is 8.25 litres. I just paid and did not bother about bringing that up. Now the computer oil level checker shows half way in bars where as it used to be near the top, so I know the computer was working properly before i went for the service.
Has anyone ever added 10 litres of oil and not got a full oil reading?
Perhaps the dealer just charges for 10 litres no matter how much they put in. Are you waiting for the oil to drain back into the pan before checking the level with the digital readout? If you are checking when the car is warm you should use the dipstick. I wouldn't drain any out unless the dipstick or the digital showed it was overfilled. Last time I changed my oil it took nearly 10 litres and was two bars below the top (I had let the oil drain for about an hour while I did other work on the car, so more than usual came out). Each bar is about 1/8 litre, so you can get a fairly large swing if the oil hasn't dripped down to the pan.
It is somewhere in the middle now, where as previously it was close to the top. I was just thinking after 10 litres of oil it should be top or one bar from the top as that is what I am used to seeing. I am checking after I come back for a burn around. I have to wait 1 minute for the computer to wait for the oil to run back in the pan anyway.
The electronic dipstick shows only the last quart of oil. Hence, the ideal level is apparently right at the middle bar whereas most people think they need to start adding oil if it drops one or two bars below the top.
Shows only the last quart of oil? Huh? Every dipstick only shows you that last bit of oil...if it showed you the whole thing then the dipstick would have to be super long (and the pan would have to be vertical and no bigger than the dipstick).
10L is more than 10 qts. I think dealer overcharged for a few litres. I doubt if they put in more than 9 qts if the computer and dipstick is showing mid oil level. I think you are fine.
maybe the shop also filled up the managers buick century with the oil you paid for...and at $125 an hour and only $300 for an oilchange
...they should be able to do so....everybody got to live
..and those Porsche drivers have deep pockets
..they don't even mention it..let's add 20ltrs next time see if he will mention it
....hope he comes back after 3000miles instead of 15.000 miles!!
