But the temps are relatively close as I used temperature conductive epoxy.

Most oil temp sensors I have seen replace the drain plug.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone added additional gauges to a 996. I am thinking of adding an oil temp and differential temp gauge. I will mount the gauges in a pod under the radio (GT3 consoule delete). The concern I have is the pick up points for the sensors. Most oil temp sensors I have seen replace the drain plug. That's not going to work on a 996. Any thoughts on this and the diff sensor is greatly appreciated.

POST 2Original post

I'll follow this as well since I wanted an oil temp gauge as well. I posted this recently but got nothing

POST 3Original post

I've done the tranny/diff temp and Exhaust gas temps.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Ray, where did you put the diff temp sensor????? Thanks

POST 5Original post

I got the thermocouple from Westberg mfg. along with the gauge and extension wire. I simply epoxyed the sensor on to the lower portion of the case and just watch the relative temps. This probablly isn't the most accurate way to do the measurement but you can tell when the dif is running hot based on the normal temp reading. If it normally runs at 200 deg and it's now reading 300 you have a possible problem, even though those numbers are an approximation. But the temps are relatively close as I used temperature conductive epoxy.

Thanks Ray.....That makes sense..
