So far 2 bent bars he is replacing (did not tell me which ones) then he needs to put it on the alignment rack so far $900.00 not counting the new rim.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

37 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well yesterday on my way to work A Range Rover went from 70 to 0 as fast as he could. I had to swerve into the center median lane to avoide hitting him. The car fishtailed like crazy for about a half a mile till I got it under control. The good news in that 7' wide narrow space I managed to not hit anyone. But on 6th correction from sliding I managed to hit the drivers rear rim on the concrete divider. This gauged the heck out of the rim and I have no idea what other damage to the suspension. If I was in any other car I do not think I could have recovered from that slide. I am currently awaiting a report from Motor Werks in Barrington to see if I have damaged the suspension. Pics and an update tonight.... The worst part is I have been gone for 6 months and this was the 2nd time I drove her since I have been back. Anyone got a spare rear 18x10???

POST 2Original post

Reid - sorry to hear that, but glad it was not worse. Is the wheel repairable? What wheels are on your car? You might want to check with Wheel Enhancement to see if they have a matching rear wheel. http://www.wheelenhancement.com/

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here are the wheels not sure what they are called. Unrepairable rim looks like a dog nawed on it....

POST 4Original post

Reid, Glad you saved yourself and the car. Your wheels are probably: 18" "Turbo Look", 10x18 65et, part # 993 362 140 04 a very common factory wheel. Should be plenty on the used market should you want to get a used one re-finished.

POST 5Original post

not to play devils advocate, but how fast were you going that it took so long to stop? how far were you from the Rover that you needed to get so aggresive on the brakes and did you have to steer to avoid it? What cause the Rover to stop so abruptly?

POST 6Original post

Reid, I might just have one... give me a call or shoot me an e-mail. I'll look in the garage tonight. I'm sure I have one front and one rear left over from my 2001. Rob

POST 7Original post

Glad you're ok. Hey as bad as it is, if it's just the wheel that got damaged, I consider yourself lucky. Hopefully that's all it is and once you replace the wheel, the whole thing will be a a distant memory.

POST 9Original post

Not snowing, they were driving on an ice pond. That sucks about the wheel, as always look to ebay to curb your needs.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK probibly not a 1/2 a mile but it felt like for ever. I was going 70 and threw it into the shoulder which started the slide. No water just seemed like the traction control kept fightting me..

POST 11Original post

OK Rob, I have to ask.... why would you have 1 front and 1 rear wheel "left over" from your 2001? Were you thinking of making a Porsche-cycle?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

He was ridding the car in front of him but I could not see that. I was 2 car lenghts away and I guess I was just zoning out not paying attention and when I looked up he was 3 feet from me.

POST 13Original post

Hit a curb on the drivers side to avoid an asslcown that was probably trying to clip his toenails while taking a sharp turn... chewed up both wheels... pulled the Turbo Twist rims off and put a set of new rims and tires on the car. I kept the rims with plans to build an entire 996 our of parts, plan stalled at the rims but you know, dreams die hard...

POST 14Original post

im actully selling two rear replica turbo twist 18x10 in rims... just cause of what happened ill give you both for 200 bucks and im near your area so ill drop it off wherever. they are brand new without tires but i work at discount tires so i can get you a good discount on some new tires or put your old ones on no charge. sorry about what happened but it sound like it most of looked really james bond sliding around the range rover ... at least you didn't destroy any body panels or get hurt that all that matters. o and pics of the rims can be found here https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/354745-rims-for-sale.html

POST 15Original post

I like the word assclown, Range Rover drivers are often assclowns, That really does suck, ive been in the same predicament on the freeway, big truck, you cant tell whats up in front of them, jammin to huey lewis and the blues, and then..................................... Assclown pile up....

POST 16Original post

BTW they are listening to huey lewis, I always play I cant drive 55. Always!

POST 17Original post

Huey Lewis without the News is like Darryl Hall with no Oats.

POST 18Original post

Very true, and where would Gladys be without The Pips......

POST 19Original post

Or Sly without his Family Stone? It's ponderous isn't it?

POST 20Original post

It is ponderous, great combos of times of your. Like snoop without dre, Scooby without shaggy. Maverick without ice-man!!!

POST 21Original post

riad, i could use one front and one rear 18" turbo look...... please don't ask why................

POST 22Original post

Hey, what you do in the privacy of your own home with rims, chains, a gynecology table and a midget is your business. However, I will be sending out the rear rim to Reid.

POST 23Original post

lol, oh well, it's my daily drive to jersey city, so what do i care, a dented rim. i have a few month left on rear tires, so i need to decide what to with it soon. i wll see if i can get some Carrera 5-Spoke 18".

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So far 2 bent bars he is replacing (did not tell me which ones) then he needs to put it on the alignment rack so far $900.00 not counting the new rim.

POST 26Original post

man, that is some bad news, how is insurance involved? Or are they.....

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With a 500 deductable not worth it. I did the crime I'll pay the time...

POST 28Original post

My 2001 had $8000 worth of damage (ok some of that was new rims and tires) but I drove the god damn thing to the dealer, and the bill was $8000.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well still waiting for the final out come???? Thanks again for the wheel!

POST 30Original post

Sucks.....better than body work though for sure. Can you imagine Hootie without his Blowfish or Katrina without her Waves? J

POST 33Original post

Just dont say it to her, she might not like it so much then!

POST 34Original post

Not to her. I t will be another intelligent phrase that slips out of my mouth toward some assclown driver

POST 35Original post

I am sure there are more damage than the rim, better get it checked out properly.

POST 36Original post

I think he is in the process, from the $800 bill he was talking about for repairs..

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is at PORSCHE getting everything inspected and re-aligned. I would never take anything to chance...
