That's a scary story - I hope your friend has good insurance and comes out whole (and that the car is repaired)
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello all,
My friend's 2000 Carrera caught on fire while it was parked at the garage!!! He arrived to work, parked... an hour later security came knocking on his door to inform him they had to extinguish his car.
The fire seem to have emanated from the front under the plastic cap under the hood where there is all kind of wirings. The damage includes the hood, the platic cover under the cowl and all the wiring underneath it and the front glass... even the back of the dash!!!
The car has 30,000 kilometers on it!!!! and is in great shape. The dealer is saying it was caused by cheap CD changer wiring... but the fact is that the CD was installed by Porsche!!!
Anyways... i am looking for suggestions.. should he scrap it, repair it... would Porsche cover this... please help, specially if someone has had this happen before to them. I will get pics tomorrow.
porsche wont cover it, the dealer may if the changer was installed by them within the last 2 years.
if he decides to sell it get soem pictures and let me know how much he wants for it
Make sure your friend finds out exactly what the source of the fire was from his/her insurance company. If the problem was not a result of a poor installation by the dealer than they need to take 5 minutes and
file a complaint
with the NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation, it will only help other owners. Porsche has had problems with wiring harnesses in the past caused suppliers substituting inferior materials without the knowledge of PAG.
