She parks it sensibly and rides the clutch well and has a clean license which is a lot more than can be said about mine.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got my GT3.
And my gf wants to drive it.
Am I being a chavanist a hole, cause I'm not too keen on anyone driving my cars, period.
What do you guys do?
But she does like to drive the boxster loaner cars the dealer always provides during service visits!
Hmmmmm....a GT3 front spoiler looks awfully looooow....good luck!
Make sure you pad up the front with something small like a king size mattress or as a matter of fact pad the whole car. Well since it's new-very hard for me to have anyone drive the car but then again with S.O. in question let her drive going down a hill for one block on Neutral : ). Seriously though if she knows how to drive a stick and Porsche let her. Regards. Mike
Well...........Yes, I do let her drive it. She, however, is an understanding wife, and realizes that this is "Palting's Toy". She has driven it a grand total of 2 times since I've had the car, just to prove to her friends and to herself that she can. And I let her drive it anytime. I even told her she can drive it at autocross and DE, which she politely declined, then asked for a 911 cab of her own!!!!!
Palting:...hahaha... perhaps not driving the car gets better reward ^___^
RR: I'll let my gf/wife drive my car only if I know that she's conservative driver, and not those ruthless kind that will try to drive fast fast and faster... If she doesn't know how to drive stick? forget it@_@...I've give her a honda civic to practice with....
I've got no problems w/ my long time Gal driving either P-Car. We both did our 1st DE @ Watkins Glen w/ the 996! We now both still do DE's in the 964 and "make" errands for weekend runs around town.

Yep well my wife drives it when she want to. I have no quibble with this at all. She is a great driver and very courteous. She parks it sensibly and rides the clutch well and has a clean license which is a lot more than can be said about mine. She loves driving it but has a nice car of her own....an alfa romao 145 cloverleaf twinspark.....She prefers to drive her own car most of the time but it don't bother me either way.
My experience tracks that of adscab911. If you think she's a keeper its probably important for the relationship to make the gesture. But be prepared. How much she ends up wanting to drive it (knowing how uncomfortable it makes you) could tell you something about the girl you didn't want to know, and maybe somethiing you don't want to live with.
Maybe if I had a Carrera, but a GT3.........just be real with her, say this is 1 of 400 built, if you f*** it up it's not like I can go down to the dealership and pick up another one.
I offer all the time and she refuses. She says she is worried that it might be too much car for her. I don't know why. She used to drive my 993 and loved it. She has driven sticks for many years and prefers them.
You have to realize its just a car.. and everything is fixable and replaceable... personal feelings are worth more then material items...
I let her drive my 996.. she like it so much we got this for her
She gets to drive it whenever she wants, not that that happens very often, but as Kevin said, its just a car. If I wanted it to stay pristine I'd keep it in the living room on a revolving pedastel. Let's face it someone could hit me as easily as they could hit her.
My wife drives the car everyday, and I drive it on the weekends. I feel just as comfortable with either of us behind the wheel. Sounds like I am very lucky
My soon to be wife drives both my 99 and 01 on both street and track. She has done two DE's this summer and has fallen in love with the whole scene.
It's really fantastic being able to share thoughts about this track or that track with her. I think women in general make much better drivers, especially at DE's. They are much more consistent and level headed. Guys survive on sheer aggressiveness, which more times then not, eventually puts them into a spin or a wall!
my wife played dukes of hazard when she was a teenager..when i met her she was excited to be driving my vw golf with a stick. she drove that vw for 12 years and wouldn't trade it in on a new car because she liked the clutch and just loved driving her car. she has excellent driving instincts...but i can hardly get her to drive the Porsche because she's afraid of doing something wrong. i encourage her to go drive when i'm not around and to get a level of comfort at her own pace.
Do I let my husband drive my 996 C4? Of course the answer is yes. He was the one to encourage me to buy my 996, and he's a much more experienced Porsche driver than am I. In fact, we have fun with me driving and him giving me little lessons on how to blip the throttle :-).
I can't understand why you would deprive your spouse or even your child of the joy of driving such a fine auto. That is if they want to. My wife loves to drive my 993 and I let her when ever she wants. She takes care of the car and listens to me when I give her instructions about letting it warm up, not pulling all the way into parking places so as not to scrap the front end, etc.
When my daughter is of age to drive I will gladly let her drive my Porsche, with me in it of course, and provide she has shown some level of responsibility. To totally deny her would just be a slap in the face, IMO.
right on Greg. my brother let me drive his vintage, prestine 356 when I was 14...my first time behind the wheel of a car. he said, "might as well get good driving blood in your veins from the start with a real automobile."
it made an impression....finally after 26 years, I finally got my first Porsche.
My wife drove my 986S routinely and is a very good diver. However, since owning the C4S she has never asked...still upset that I sold the 986S for the C4S..methinks...oh well...
i offered my wife the gt3 but she's not interested... altho' she's tracked our 930's etc.
a decisive senior exceutive type who prefers the S600, and we need one non-truck with 4 doors... so let it go. i think it relates to how much she hated zipping the back window in the convertible top of our 1991 C2 12 years ago dressed for power, on the way to the office... remember those irritating tops?
I made my wife so nervous about sitting in my 01 C4, let alone drive it refuses to drive it. No riveted jeans, no sequin's, no high heels, watch the nails, jewelery etc. Does well as a pasenger, hardly ever grabs the OS handles and does not mind open roads at 120mph plus. Now the problem is solve, she now drives a Blk on Blk Cayenne S and wants a Cab next year.
If I get her the Cab, I'll get to drive the Cayenne more.
