Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking to sell my 993 and purchase a 996. I am looking at a 1999 with 43,000 miles. It has many options: Carbon shifter, steering wheel, and hand brake. It also has the full Aerokit, 18 Gemballa wheels, techart exhaust and H&R springs. They car is in great condition but priced too high I believe, 48,000. What do you guys think?

POST 2Original post

that seems a bit high. I think that you can probably find one for around the low 40's... I know it has a lot of work and all, so that might be a factor, but then again, you have to keep in mind that "mods" don't account for much in the resale value.

POST 3Original post

48 seems a bit steep. If it had half the mileage I would consider it. Snoop around some more.

POST 4Original post

A little high for that many miles...offer $45K.

POST 5Original post

Same old story, it depends on the options (including colors) and complete history. Aero kit cars usually cost more. Is this one a Porsche AG factory, Porsche dealer, or 'other' installed aero package? Does it have the traction control option? I have been watching the market closely and 1999 C2 'aero' coupes with popular options have asking prices around $54,000.

POST 6Original post

I am also looking to get a 99 model 996. Are there any major differences between the 99 and the later year models? less HP ? etc. Thanks.

POST 7Original post

If you live in CA, you can find plenty of 99 996 w/40k miles for around $35k.

POST 8Original post

trade in value is higher than that, hell i was offered 48 for a trade in on my 99 cab, but i guess it depends on where your at

POST 9Original post

I paid $33,600 for my 99. It had 60K very few options but was very clean. {It's now doing serious track duty.}

POST 10Original post

well mine does only have 25k on it, not to mention the color matched interior trim

POST 11Original post

You should be able to find one that meets you exact spec. There is a plethora of cars out there. I would look for lowest milage best cared for orphan. Also, I would stay away from leased cars, previuos owners would not give a rats a$$ about them. I did not. MY P-Car is '99 and has 17K on it

POST 12Original post

From what i've seen, 99's with 45K ++ miles are going in the $35 - $39 range. Even though many dealers are asking 40 - 45, there is PLENTY of room to negotiate. If you are looking for a car with these miles there are many available, take your time and don't get taken!

POST 13Original post

The average price for a clean 99 996 in south fla is $38k for a base model to $47k for a loaded one. if you buy it from a certified Porsche dealer you can often get a extended factory warranty, A must for the 99's. just my 2 Cents. cheers Bryan
