By the way 40th fans, in doesn`t work to buy the 4 leather pieces should your set be missing.

Your cars seats and luggage/ wallet set were cut from the same leather sheets.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a mint 40th AE 911. Just 1500 miles, includes all the luggage etc etc. My garage is busting at the seems and I am thinking of selling. Thoughts?
at 1,500 miles you obviously bought it with "collector" in mind, no?
if so keep it longer. you won't extract a decent value yet.
Give it a few year and people will start realizing how much bigger a 991 is and that the 996 is the lightest of the water cooled 911
Might be able to get that, but it IMHO it would probably take just the right buyer on just the right day...
Hey, thats only about $40/mile for each of those 1,500 miles you drove it!
Why sell it now? Your actually doing exactly what you should be. Saving the car. I would move it inside your home for display. Have you kept up with maintenance? Some pics would be nice.
Whatever you do, dont start driving it. Something might happen, remember its still not immune to IMSB failure and its even more likely from lack of use.
Are you nutz? Read his first post. This car needs to stay INSIDE but maintained. It will be a great conversation piece. In fact I bet I know someone that would love to add it to their car collection.
Ate you guys crazy? Who drives 911s?! Ferdinand P would roll over in his grave if he heard such talk.
Put that car in a garage. Cover it in a tarp. Lock the garage. Speak in hushed tones around it and whatever you do, don't dare enjoy it.
Just curious - I thought you just bought that 40AE from Isringhausen. Seemed like a unique and terrific find with such low miles. Why the quick change of heart?

I did buy it from Isringhausen. It's a beautiful fantastic car in perfect condition. I think there were quite a few people in line that were interested. I bought it more as a collection piece for my car collection, but I am now moving from Nevada to Colorado and not only is my garage space more limited, the driving season shortens a bit. I drive all my cars a somewhat and now I'll have even less time to drive them.
Car should be worth 45k if you could find an end user collector. If I were in your shoes and wanted to sell, I would put it on eBay nationals, I would also contact all the local dealers and wholesalers to see who would pay the most. Good luck with your move and your collection!
Hello Redant, your 40th aniv car is really a drivers 911, not a display queen. On the other hand, most of the ones that ate their engines were rarely used. So if yours is reactivated, it had better have a service and the pesky IMS bearing fixed first. Should get 50 ish for a new one like that.
By the way 40th fans, in doesn`t work to buy the 4 leather pieces should your set be missing. Your cars seats and luggage/ wallet set were cut from the same leather sheets. Hence the perfect match. Oh dear, as I discovered, the lease-and-sell-on-a-whim original owners were mostly not the careful preservers we expect to find. Ditto with the signed, numbered certificate they all had. Say Redant, yours should still have that, right?
Keep it... my Father owned one and was forced to sell it by his ex-wife... he still regrets it. He has a 997 C4 GTS and still misses that car. He did make a profit selling it.
Serious first world problems! It is a bit more collectible than some 911s but in the end a lot of collectors will say "it's just a 996." Maybe get a storage unit for a few months until you figure it out. I had to downsize my garage and that's what I did. I don't drive it quite as much but the car is no worse for wear.
I'm still mad at the stealership that mine was traded in to who immediately ebayed all of the luggage and paperwork...it was painful talking to the original owners on the phone who said they went to a lot of trouble to make sure all of the paperwork and luggage was turned in with the car.
I just viewed the 50th Anniversary edition at the PCA Escape to LA event in Pomona. I would hold on to your 40th, buy a 50th and start your decade collection.
