Suggestion

Once you have done that, pull gently down and the metal rod inside the slotted plastic part will go through the upper slot that you can't see and both parts will disconnect from each other.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to get the old door lock out of my drivers door and I can not figure out how to disconnect the black plastic piece that attaches the door lock mechanism to the outside door handle. Can anyone explain how to disconnect this plastic piece or point me to another post that explains how to disconnect it? Thanks in advance, Don

POST 2Original post

I'm not sure of the exact part you're referring to but when I removed my lock mechanism and changed it I found this link http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=50427 as well as a page on the Pelican site quite useful (think it was somewhere in the Boxster DIY section)

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would include a pic but I keep getting the "I have exceeded my limit" on uploading pics. If you can view this Pelican link then the green arrow is pointing at it: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...small/Pic5.jpg -Don

POST 4Original post

The black plastic piece is a slider. Slide it towards the inside of the door. Once you have done that, pull gently down and the metal rod inside the slotted plastic part will go through the upper slot that you can't see and both parts will disconnect from each other.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks , I drove to the dealer as I was not making any progress and was told about the same thing as you have stated and now it is off. And for anyone else dealing with this it is the threaded end of the metal rod that pops out of this black plastic part. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this !!! Don
