Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Adjust right' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '30% b&m' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust right' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

And I can't tell you about the SSK install details on the car I drove other than it felt like half so I figured it was the 30% B&M.

Was he using the stock shift link or an aftermarket one?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I drove a student's car at the track and really thought the SSK was not for me.
So here's an offer to celebrate the "new" 996 board (don't ask if you don't know :-)), a B&M short shift never installed, you pay shipping. First come, first serve serve sounds easiest. Can you just vote for Kristi Yamaguchi on Dancing w/ the Stars, and we have a deal? (It's not me, it's my daughter... no, really).,
Best,
Dan
Looks like Yasuro gets it. Sorry, should have made it sound like less of a joke. I've had it sitting in my garage for over a year so it's been "amortized" in my head so to speak.
Yasuro, PM sent...
What did you not like about it? Was it adjusted right? Was he using the stock shift link or an aftermarket one? Improper adjustment or using an aftermarket shift link will make it feel a lot harder than it should be.
I've got some smoking deals here on RL so I'm just paying forward.
About why I didn't like it, here's the LONG (sorry) of it...
I know a lot of people love the B&M. And I can't tell you about the SSK install details on the car I drove other than it felt like half so I figured it was the 30% B&M. I couldn't even tell if I was in 1st gear and had to carefully feather the clutch to see if it would pop out or go. It did go and it didn't pop out, but it really pissed me off I couldn't tell, especially in someone else's car. I'll accept it could be out of adjustment. And I did the orientation laps w/o further incident.
But, I don't have a problem w/ the throw on my current shifter. For me, I can feel I've blown a shift w/ the stock shifter before I've actually put too much pressure on the synchro's. It's the 2nd to 3rd gear shift for me. I don't blow the shift very often, but I sure can feel the onset buzz of the synchro and I'll completely back off and double clutch. The SSK (at the perceived half throw) would require more effort in less time, and I think it would take too much commitment all the time. One could argue an SSK will prevent this problem in the first place and I wouldn't dispute it until I've lived w/ it on my car. So I'll try something less extreme like the 997 mod at some point. Just my humble opinion, and I open to comments other than the "you ignorant ****" variety.
To make this even longer, it's funny how my missed shifts mostly only happen btwn turn 2 and 3 at Laguna Seca. No where else. There's a lot to do there btwn those turns. OK, now I'm really done...
