Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Maybe check the ground point behind the dashboard, the one in ours was corroded and once cleaned the problems stopped.
Leading evidence: 'Clean problems stopped' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean problems stopped' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Need to narrow things down and start replacing suspecting parts.

Once I get back in the trip mileage is set back to 0.0, the clock has been reset to a random time and I have to hold the button down to lower the windows/sunroof instead of just tapping it once.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This has been a long and frustrating process and I still haven't figured it out... So here's a post from about a month ago -
"I seem to be having some electrical issues after the alarm went off a few days ago. Here are some examples -
I get out of the car after a drive and when I come back, the remote doesn't work. Once I get back in the trip mileage is set back to 0.0, the clock has been reset to a random time and I have to hold the button down to lower the windows/sunroof instead of just tapping it once. The radio also randomly turned off and on real quickly once today and I'm not sure what that's about. The headlights and interior lights flicker, not on and off, just a little bit more dim at times. If I flash the lights I lose power to the engine and the lights dim."
Fast forward a month - the problem is "fixed" by an indie shop, problems as diagnosed by said indie shop -
Voltage Distributor was faulty and needed to be replaced
Current Distribution repair
Ground wiring and wiring around the battery had some corrosion
Drivers side window regulator was out
$1,200 later, the car drives perfectly... for 5 days...
Tonight I go out to my car to come home from work, start it up and the lights are flickering, although to a lesser extent. If I flash the lights the voltage on the left of the dash drops a little bit (like before) and it never goes above 14 even while driving, but when I flash the lights I do not lose power to the engine. The flickering stopped as soon as I started driving. So I just spent $1,200 getting this "fixed" and now it seems that it's starting again... hmm... I really hope it's not starting up again, but I'm wondering what I should do. I hate issues like this.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Casey
I don't think your voltimeter should ever go above 14, so that isn't a problem.
Other than that, I don't have a clue. In my experience, electrical gremlins are the toughest to fix once they start. These cars can be quirky at times. Maybe tonight was just a one-time thing.
Hopefully it's just a one time thing. Hasn't happened today yet, although when I roll the windows down or flash the lights the voltimeter does drop a tad bit. Is that normal?
Will do! Thanks. I'll try jiggling the key next time I drive it.
These cars do have their gremlins. My( *cough* Parents *cough*) 2003 996 would have random electrical problems. Whenever the headlights were on, a warning about ABS would come on and then if you kept the brake lights on, you could turn the key off and take it off and the engine would stay on. Those problems went away, but the oil pressure gauge will drop to zero whenever I drive it. Maybe check the ground point behind the dashboard, the one in ours was corroded and once cleaned the problems stopped. IDK if they are related.
