This is not a probability of success.

Better make sure to reinforce the subframe with TMS reinforcement plates when using the E36 at the track.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

35 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Changed my mind. Screw it. I am keeping her. (see below). Chad

Say it ain't so...Chad, who is going to be our lead man. Good luck with the sale. Hope you get what you need out of the car! Lots of goodies for someone. P.S. - Do you think you'll change your mind? Ben is gone

POST 3Original post

Chad good luck with the sale...at $35K OBO it should sell quickly, it is a very nice car.

POST 4Original post

Sorry to hear about this...you'll have lots of fun with the E36 as a track car...I've been in negotiations lately to get my brother to sell me his to turn into my track toy.

POST 5Original post

Better make sure to reinforce the subframe with TMS reinforcement plates when using the E36 at the track. Otherwise...

POST 6Original post

The deed isn't really done until you have $$'s in hand and the car is gone! $35k is a good deal for your car. I would have asked more seeing how it's the ONLY non-sunroof 996 currently available.

POST 7Original post

I respect how you will not molest this car, good idea. Although, what else is there to do with a sunroof delete, wasn't that the intent? To turn into a more rigid race car?

POST 8Original post

Beautiful car at a fair price. GL with the sale.

POST 9Original post

I have no access to the link, but I would like to see it. John

POST 10Original post

I am surprised that in all the work you have done on this car, you did not get attached enough to keep it. How will you react if the next owner turns it into a track only car? Someone will get a beautiful car. Good luck with the sale. Stefan

POST 11Original post

Best wishes with the sale. Someone will get a beaut. I notice the one mod you didn't do: 3rd-center radiator. What water temperatures did you see at the track? Before I did this mod, my temp needle would go all the way to the max and the light would come on until I pulled off for a cool-down.

POST 12Original post

Tough to see her go I'm sure. What a lucky new future owner. You've got some serious guts letting her go for noble reasons. Best of luck finding your track baby.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Guys. You're going to think I am crazy (I am beginning to think I am). I am pulling the car from the for sale list. I'm keeping it. why you ask? I just came back from my shop, and I had a smile on my face for the whole trip back. Screw it. I love this thing WAY to much. Sorry folks that were interested. She's no longer for sale. C.

POST 14Original post

WTH? she's for sale, she's not for sale, she's for sale, she's not for sale... you're worse than my wife in making decisions!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5396930

I know...I know. That trip back from the shop...screw it. I love this car WAY to much. Besides, there's more that I want to do to her. C.

Nothing will replace the feeling. I learned that quickly after just a couple of test drives in a 993 and 996, even coming from a modified M3. Like that guy selling his 996TT for a 335/135/whatever... that's going "backwards."

Ain't it the truth?! If I sell this car, I will hate myself in the morning. C.

POST 19Original post

Good choice...I have been weighing the same exact options as you....once you get an M3 to a reliable, non-unibody tearing state of trackable, you are in the realm of the cost of a 996 that is a lot more fun to drive.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 5396923

Chad, Your car is one of a kind with history and plenty of TLC. Don't let it go ever. (unless you want to sell to me of course )

POST 21Original post

Actually, I'm glad you decided to keep your Porsche. Knowing little about your BMW interest as a possible replacement, I felt you had really bonded with the 'white whale', and you performed so many mods so quickley to make her your track car and DD.Good choice in my book!

POST 23Original post

Yay! We've got a keeper!! Glad you are staying....really enjoyed your mod write-ups so far and was looking forward to more! Pete

POST 25Original post

chad...good choice!! mod the heck out of it...isnt that what its all about. the sun roof delete was for the true enthusiast that plans to drive the car to its full potential...therefore all the mods to that end will compliment the car in lieu of diminishing its value and purpose.

POST 26Original post

Chad do whatever you want dude, but here is my input: If you sell the car now before you go full on tracking with her and make further mods, you can get a pretty penny for it and your target audience will be larger. If you mod it more and track it more, your target audience will reduce a lot and your sale price might be less. But then of course you cannot have fun with it if you do not track it. You only live once so if you are going to something, don't dabble, go for it. Again my 2 cents.

I bet that's how you felt on your drive home Good decision to keep her Chad!

POST 29Original post

now go get that das rolbar... good move on keeping her.

POST 30Original post

Quotes source post: 5396945

Good for you, it is one beautiful car, I love the white.

POST 31Original post

Chad, I was wondering when you were going to come to your !@#$%^&* senses! Damn, the phrase !@#$%^&* works for all situations,like.... cussing out newbies..... bitching about anything..... and giving a fellow Rennlister crap because he was temporarily stoopid!

POST 32Original post

He found out he wasn't going to be able to sell it with all the rock chips I gave him on our last mountain run!

POST 33Original post

Did all this recent engine replacement talk temporarily spook you? Glad to hear you are keeping her. Stefan

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5399773

No...not at all. ok..maybe some. But I know what I got into upon buying her. besides, I am still researching some machine shops to work on an alternative solution to a full engine replacement. Stay tuned. C.

POST 35Original post

Just as a reply to this...if any of you had your hopes up on a White MKI aero (I know I wanted one for the longest time prior to settling on red), I was at my local dealer today and they've got a '00 white factory aero car. It's a C4 not a C2, but I thought I"d pass along as a tangent to this thread. no affiliation with seller other than I wish they'd give me better prices on parts. www.byersauto.com Andy
