Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I changed the oil in my NSX after every 3-4k just to be safe.

It doesn't hurt to change every 10k mi or every year just to be safe.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On the subject of oil - I just saw the discussion on which oil and recommendations and it reminded me of a question. How often do you change your oil? My salesman told me one thing but I'm not sure that he is right or maybe even all that knowledgeable. I changed the oil in my NSX after every 3-4k just to be safe. However, when I picked up my '03 coupe - they (salesguy with service tech at elbow) told me every 15k. When it comes to oil & filters, I would much rather be safer than well ... not safer. OTH - I'll be lucky to get 10k on the car in a year. Thoughts?
That's why I change my oil every year just before I put it away for the winter. Oil is cheap and Porsche just has to get you by the warrenty period. My wife only puts about 2000 miles a year on her car. I change it once a year as well. YMMV
Change it every year or every 15k mi is what Porsche says. It doesn't hurt to change every 10k mi or every year just to be safe.
I changed out a 16k mi old oil. It wasn't too bad actually, much to my surprise.
That's why they use Mobil 1 synthetic... some of the best stuff around... change it and forget about it... leave it in AT MOST 1 year or 15,000 miles... your still ok... no oil analysis ($$$) needed... if you have the "bug" then change the filter @7,500
there has been so much documentation on the merits of synthetic oil that changing it every 3-4000 miles is a waist of money... the argument "better to be safe" doesn't work here... its huge overkill to change every 3-4000 miles... if your using the regular oil then by all means yes... and every 3000 miles... there was a study done where they compared 15,000 mile synthetic oil to 3,000 mile regular oil and the synthetic was in MUCH better shape... save your money folks...
Oil analysis can tell you a lot. For instance I learned that when my MAF sensor went bad it caused excessive fuel dilution. You really don't want to go for a whole year with over 10% of your oil diluted with gasoline. Also you can detect early bearing failures or excessive dirt due to a faulty air cleaner. Worth doing for a base line and from time to time if not more often. YMMV.
I've used this service.

For years I used D-A oil in all my cars and they offered free Oil Ana. with their oil.
I don't know if they still do. Last I looked they did not make an approved synthetic.
I switched all cars to Mobil 1 in 1999 when I bought my P-Car.
