Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use n/a c2 and c4 tiptronics and all gt3s' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 3rd' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I suppose that I could always add it or if I need even more, use the 3rd.

Suggestion
So, the standard Carrera (including non-S C4) uses a different pair of radiators compared to the C4s, the TT and the 40 Jahre which all share the same radiators.

Don;t let the dealer sell you the large, smile-shaped piece unless you're using the non-GT3/Aero nose.

I'd be suprised if the 40j, or the C4S, use the Turbo's radiators...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Why do you want to fit it? Do you have overheating problems? I doubt it.
I am in constant stress with the thermodynamic department (who design coolers for a potential situation where you redline up Pike's Peak in 2nd gear, towing a U-haul). Once we meet their requirements, the coolers should be good for any situation and don't need any additions.
Why not just price out the parts from your favorite dealer and beg for a slight discount? When I did mine on my last car, the total of parts came to about $730 Canadian which is under $575 USD. By the way, it does make a difference for track driving.
I did the 3rd. radiator on my 1999 996 and my 2002 996. Actually, the 40 Jahre does not have the 3rd. radiator, believe it or not. I was surprised to learn this when I bought the car. In previous X51 cars (like 2003s with the X51 option), it was necessary but since the 40 Jahre uses the larger turbo rads (like the C4s so if you see one of those with X51, it won't have the 3rd rad either), it doesn't need the 3rd. radiator. I had my 40 Jahre on the track a few times this fall and saw no need for increased cooling above and beyond what it has. I suppose that I could always add it or if I need even more, use the 3rd. radiator from the 996 TT (and all of its pieces) since that's even larger than the X51 3rd. radiator (the X51 radiator is the same as the standard 996 tiptronic radiator).
I'd be suprised if the 40j, or the C4S, use the Turbo's radiators...
At least according to "Excellence was Expected", it is the larger vent holes that obviate the need for the 3rd radiator on the C4S....they just reap the benefit of enhanced volumetric air flow through the standard radiators.
In fact, here are the part numbers:
C2/C4: 996.106.131.51 (and ...131.51)
C4S, 996TT and 40 Jahre: 996.106.131.72 (and ...132.70)
So, the standard Carrera (including non-S C4) uses a different pair of radiators compared to the C4s, the TT and the 40 Jahre which all share the same radiators.
I, too, doubted this until they confirmed the part numbers for me.
As far as 3rd. radiators go, there are actually 3 of them:
1- X51, non 40 Jahre and non C4S, also used for all N/A C2 and C4 tiptronics and all GT3s,
2- 996tt
3- GT2 (although I'm willing to bet that this is the same as the 996tt with different angle and different ducting)
If you're going to be using the GT3 nose, you'll only need the small rubber duct, not the the large plastic/rubber duct that spans the entire width of the nose/bumper. The small rubber duct is rectangular in shape and is the same height and width as the 3rd. radiator. Don;t let the dealer sell you the large, smile-shaped piece unless you're using the non-GT3/Aero nose.
