Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All, My 996 that was wrecked by The Collection in Miami, should be finished being repaired by the end of next week. A few days after the accident, I spoke to Mr. Gorin at The Collection and he told me that when my car was repaired I should bring the car back to the dealership so that we could talk about a trade in. I definitely don't want to drive a wrecked car and sure don't want to get taken advantage of on a new purchase. Any suggestions as to how I should handle this would be greatly appreciated.
Well, firstly I'm glad to hear that things are progressing in the right direction. Hopefully this will end well afterall.
Considering that without the accident you would not be considering buying a new car, then you should be pushing for full retail value on your car. From there it's up to you if you buy a similar car, or trade up.
On the car that you would buy I would hope that you could negotiate a good deal, as it's morally wrong of them to make a ton of money on you on a car that you wouldn't be buying if it were not for their mistakes.
I would say that the margin that they make on you should be slim to none on a car comparable to the one that you have, but then if you choose to trade-up, then it would be reasonable for them to make some money on the transaction.
Hey great to hear that the car is not banged up still in a parking lot awaiting litigation.
But I hope he lives up to what he owes you. I had a bad experience with a dealer that did the old divide and conquer trick, first we do so and so to get the ball rolling and then we can talk about next step, but in their mind there was no next step. Once first step was done it is a bit harder to play hardball...
But maybe these guys will have more ethics
Best of luck
I was wondering where you netted out...and actually hoped he would have already done right by you. It sounds like he has not...yet. Nor does it sound like he has promised to - which seems different from the letter he posted on this forum. Please keep us up to date - if The Collection does not give you fair value for your pre-wrecked car as a trade AT THE VERY LEAST (I think they should trade you even for a non wrecked car of your choice from the same vintage, type and with the same or fewer miles) I for one would like to know that.
Sounds like this is a great first step. I think the Collection learned that this is a very powerful site, and that all they have in this business is their reputation. Hopefully they will earn the reputation as a place that takes care of their customers. I wish you well, and if it were me I would move on up to a 997S. That is just my opinion so whatever deos it for you is what you should get. Please let us all know how this turns out. If it makes any difference I did post a while back asking about this very issue with your car. THe reason was I was looking at a car there, and was not going to buy if this had not been resolved or was in litigation. I ended up not buying it anyway due to another car being available to me, but that should let them know that people around here do not forget when someone wrongs one of us.
Just wondering whatever became of this saga? Did a search but never found anything recent. Every so often I come across a nice car that they are selling and I always think back to this story.
I doubt they'll give you top value for your car unless insurance covered diminishing value. Do your homework on the value of your car before you walk in. As for price of the new car, take their best price and shop around at other dealers.
I PMd John D a few months ago inquiring about the status but I never got a reply. I did a search and I could not find the past threads. So I guess the update would be: nada nada nada
Looks like the dealer has just one opportunity to make things right with you. Just stick with your decision about not wanting your damaged/repaired Porsche , and listen closely to his trade/purchase deal. You will know right away if he's blowing smoke up your a$% or cuttiing you a proper, justified deal.GL
