Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I removed my front bumper cover a few months ago to clean debris from the radiators and a/c condensing unit and found my side markers were very hard to install afterward.
Leading evidence: 'Clean debris' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean debris' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Has your car ever been in an accident that would change the alingment of the ajoining panels?

Cowboy, by any chance did you remove and replace the front bumper cover before the light cracked the first time?

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So the first time it happened, I didn't give it much thought. But now, this is my second cracked drivers side marker in the past year or so. Any ideas what could be causing it? I have the original front bumper so no body work has been done in that area.
Looks like the fitment of the marker is too tight - all it will take is a jarring bump over a speed bump (in cold temperature) to stress and crack the marker.
Has anything move recently that has caused the wheel well liner and bumper cover to be so close to the side marker? Has your car ever been in an accident that would change the alingment of the ajoining panels?
Looks to me that if you find a way to remove the stress being caused by the tight fit, then things should be better.
No accidents to date. Not sure if anything moved. What I will do tomorrow is check if I can see any differences in the liner and bumper cover between the two sides.
thanks!
No problem, it's hard to tell from the photos, but the fitment does look pretty tight compared to mine.
...certainly the photograph tends to indicate that the failure occurred at the interface with the bumper cover, so fight fitment is my first suspect.
Any time I see surface in contact like that I worry. The strange thing is that there should be enough flex in the snap-lock fitting to accomodate movement, even in cold weather - that type of failure usually requires a fair amount of pent-up stress.
Good luck!
that happens when you pin the speedometer at more than 20.5 seconds, there is a tsb on it. It is a well known documented flaw... use the search function, it is your friend.
Cowboy, by any chance did you remove and replace the front bumper cover before the light cracked the first time? If so, you may have put everything back together too tightly which is easy to do.
I removed my front bumper cover a few months ago to clean debris from the radiators and a/c condensing unit and found my side markers were very hard to install afterward. I must have put the bumper cover on tighter than its factory installation. I hope the same thing does not happen to my lights.
Where your side lights difficult to install?
I am the 2nd owner so not sure if the previous had removed/reinstalled the front bumper. I do recall that it was a little more difficult to snap the drivers side lights in. I didn't have time today to look at it but plan on doing so this weekend. Maybe it is like you say...too tight?
