Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How much does it cost to get fixed. My window just started to make a horrible noise. I didn't find any prices for it besides the part. Found a dealer that sells it for 175$

POST 2Original post

$175 for the regulator is cheaper than I just paid for my wife's Boxster. Mine was $220 plus about $170 labor and it wasn't at the dealer. Total bill was $420.

POST 3Original post

I believe there is a nice and detailed DIY somehere on this Forum, it was on a Boxster but it should be the same for our cars, do a search. You could save the labor cost by doing it yourself, it should not be too hard. When mine goes I will take up this task. Last month I replaced my wife's 325i front passenger side window regulator and it wasn't that bad, just diconnect the negative battery to dissable the airbag, just to be safe. My 5-serie also had both rear regulators broken the same way. Looks like all german car's window regulator have the same weakness. Good luck!

Great Idea re: disabling the airbag. That would s*** if the airbag deployed!!
