I'm starting to take a look at a z8 as an option as my third car. It's a shame the final alpina run came as auto, but the earlier cars are looking better and better. Anyone out there with any experience..thoughts ? Perry

They are Neat cars. Very vintage roadster feel. Tons of Torque. The Alpina is equipped with a different motor (more torque down low), different wheels, Auto Trans, some suspension and brake changes, and some other cosmetic 'enhancements. They are a driver's car. My father bought one about a year ago and has garaged it carefully. It gets driven about one day a week for about 10 miles to and back from work. He has other cars (MB's, AMG's) that he splits time with. He has an Alpina in Black (#176 of 444) with less than 2,000 easy miles for Sale in L.A. He has not advertised it, but would sell (He needs the garage space!).

you might contact macfly who frequents the GT2/3 list - he has some interesting experience with the Z8 - as well as being a past owner, if i remember correctly.

A good friend of mine has one. I've driven it a few times and it's a great car. Completely different feel than a 911 but a blast to drive...just different. I think she may be thinking of selling it. It's black with the ivory interior. Not sure about miles but very low.
