I have just fitted the 18" Sport Techno's to a narrow body 996 Carrera4 without any problems and have been told by Porsche that I can lower the car 30mm all round and will still hot have a problem with the wheels fouling the bodywork.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Will the 18 inch 996 Turbo wheels fit a narrow body 996?

POST 3Original post

I have just fitted the 18" Sport Techno's to a narrow body 996 Carrera4 without any problems and have been told by Porsche that I can lower the car 30mm all round and will still hot have a problem with the wheels fouling the bodywork. Are the Turbo wheels running larger tyres that the 18" Sport Techno's? Mine are 225/40 at the front and 295/30 at the rears (11" wide). Ollie

POST 4Original post

Ive undestanded that you can fit 996TT wheels, but use maximum 285s on the rear...

POST 5Original post

Sport Techno wheels are designed to fit narrow body cars. People who have them on wide-body cars use wheel spacers. Personally, I would never use wheel spacers, especially on a Porsche. In addition to potential safety concerns in extreme situations, spacers add extra unsprung weight which compromises handling performance.

POST 6Original post

You can put a 996TT wheel on a narrow body but no matter what you do, the rear wheel will stick out beyond the fender line. The offset is incorrect.
