Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I recently fitted a set of 18" sport techno's to my 99 C4 Coupe which originally had the old style GT3 wheels on (225 & 265).

Suggestion
To be honest I have not noticed any real difference with the car since installing the new wheels and tyres however I did find the car slightly more nervous in terms of turn in when I ran it with the recommended tyre pressures all round.

More importantly, would they make the handling worse assuming that I would use 235/295 tires?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My local shop has a set of 04 GT3 18' Wheels (brand new) for sale @ $1800. Would they improve the handling of my C2 Coupe, currently fitted with 18' Carrera 5 spoke with 225/285 P-Zero Corsa? More importantly, would they make the handling worse assuming that I would use 235/295 tires? Many thanks.
Sab
I recently fitted a set of 18" sport techno's to my 99 C4 Coupe which originally had the old style GT3 wheels on (225 & 265). Originally the car seemed more skittish with the bigger tyres on it, but since dropping the tyre pressures 4psi at the front and 6psi at the rear the car is fantastic.
Proof of the pudding was last weekend's trip to the Nurburgring where the car was easily the fastest in the group and handled perfectly.
The Corsa tyres are great in the dry too, and far better than the Cup tyres in the wet.
Cheers
Ollie
The Techos are beauties, and I love the Corsa and their grips to the point that I fear I cannot return to street tires. However, I heard that when these R-compound tires let go, they do so with minimal warning. Is this true?
Presumably, the change to 235/295 would:
(i) slow my acceleration because of more friction provided by the wider tires but better grip in conering and braking?
(ii) the wider front would make turn-in (steering response) slower but give more feedback from the steering wheel?
(iii) increase in unsprung weight. What affect would that have on the car?
In reality, can these differences be felt or are they minimal differences which I should not be concerned with?

To be honest I have not noticed any real difference with the car since installing the new wheels and tyres however I did find the car slightly more nervous in terms of turn in when I ran it with the recommended tyre pressures all round. Since I lowered them the car turns in sharper than ever and around the ring last weekend it had so much grip that a couple of M3 BMW's had a big off trying to latch onto my tail!!!
I certainly cannot notice any adverse handling or performance problems since fitting them.
GO for it :-)
