Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

, but I can't understand how you can think on changing brake rotors as an aesthetic issue

Unless you are looking at changing the suspension uprights and hubs, your choices for brake upgrades are very limited.

Alternatively, you could change the uprights and hub to run the slightly larger Turbo brakes or GT2/GT3 brakes.

The downside is the additional suspension to run these brakes run as much as the brake upgrades.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just installed lightweight 5 spoke carrera wheels, and there is a huge gap from rotor to wheel.
looks out of proportion.
anyone with an idea for bigger rotor and/or caliper upgrade without spendings thousand and thousands for all 4 wheels?
thanks
bob
Upgrading your brakes to larger ones without spending thousands... how could one do that? If that's possible, most of us would have bigger brakes then.
~$2600 for the front brake upgrade, I believe.

Actually, I think they look pretty good. They are a more open design versus the Turbo twists. They just seem to be the "right" look to a Carrera. Keep in mind that the critical measurement is the distance from the caliper to the wheel, not the rotor. Did you realize front brakes on a Turbo are only .4" larger in diameter? Unless you are looking at changing the suspension uprights and hubs, your choices for brake upgrades are very limited. Only the Brembo Gran Turismo 13.6" 4-piston brake kits will fit inside the Carrera 5-spokes. All the other 14" and 15" upgrades require losing the 5-spokes and going to 19" wheels. Alternatively, you could change the uprights and hub to run the slightly larger Turbo brakes or GT2/GT3 brakes. The downside is the additional suspension to run these brakes run as much as the brake upgrades.
Why would you want to spend thousands and ADD unsprung weight to the car when it is NOT needed. Have you seen the brakes on a F1 car? The smallest package that will stop in the highest level needed and not a tick larger.
LVDell you always write with a logical argument
First of all I must sorry because it's not my business
, but I can't understand how you can think on changing brake rotors as an aesthetic issue
Porsche engineers have developed the car and It has a very good brakes.
If you need to improve the brakes, you can get SuperBlue Racing ATE brake fluid, metallic brake lines, and Pagid Blue or Orange pads... but I think you prefer a good looking wheel to an effective brake system...
Thanks for the kind words as always Juan
Only two things are needed for SERIOUS stopping power......the kind that makes your eyeballs pop out of their socket! (1)Pagid Race Pads (2)Fluid that can handle it (Motul, SRF).
I am sure he was being facetious
well.. everyone has a personal sense of why to do anything to their porsche.
yes, it is aesthetics. but i did it on my 964, and got great joy every time i looked at my nice wheels and big reds.
i don' tDE any more so i agree the stopping power is not the issue at all.
i was offered a set of gt-3 front take offs, for 1295 that need gt-3 carriers. (960 for pair from sunset.)
so it would be under 3000 all in for the fronts installed, and one person said that my front calilpers would bolt on to a pair of turbo rotors in the back. maybe 1000 all in installed.
upgradite-itis for sure, but if i drive the car for 3 years it will cost about $3.50 a day to admire my car, or about 0.50/time each time i walked up to daily.
is that so crazy?
not crazy at all. there is no rational way to explain this addiction we all suffer from.......Porscheritis
bottom line is whatever makes you happy! sure it is extra weight you don't want and stopping power you don't need. but if making you happy everytime you see that bad boy then heck, who cares what you spend on it, right?
If you wanna do something wild there is a guy with GT3 PCCB's and steel rotors selling for $3k....

No affiliation...just what looks like a pretty good deal....
I have the Evo Motorsport 325mm BBK on my 1999 C2... I think the price is around $2700 for the kit. Its basically the 993 twin turbo setup I think. Alex at Sharkwerks is where I got mine. Very happy with it.
