Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

3 months ago Ron's 1999 motor decided to self destruct and his extended warranty company was giving him a hard time. He posted messages here. I saw it when they pushed it into the shop back then at my local dealer in San Jose. I did not know who Ran was, but I knew his car. So I go to the dealer today to talk to one of the mechanics and see Ron's car on the lift with a big motor box in front of it. Then in walks Ron. All grins with his new engine.

POST 3Original post

you sure it doesn't go in the front? the hood's up.....

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Peter knows where the motor goes. Note no cosmoline.

POST 5Original post

what was the outcome of the insurance claim, did they pay?

POST 6Original post

They paid. Probably around 20-25k for the parts and labor and all of the "experts" they sent out to to try to deny the claim and their own attorney fees. screw em, they deserve it.

POST 7Original post

Damn that is on CLEAN Engine! You coming to the Drive on Saturday Ron?

POST 8Original post

i think i might try to get out there. I understand it's at 10 a.m.? at Carlson? Have to check the wife's schedule for me....

POST 9Original post

nice congrats... it gives a little solace to other like me with 3rd party warranty insurance. may this also serve as a notice to 996 owners out there without warranty coverage of any kind. $25k?!

POST 10Original post

oh yeah, the tranny was replaced as well. looks as clean and new as the engine!

POST 11Original post

Awesome, new drivetrain. So basically you got a new car! That's great! There's a silverlining in every dark cloud..... =)
