Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heading over there in a few weeks. Anyone stayed in a comfortable place right near the track or one of the local villages? Not looking for a chain hotel but a more cozy style place with great local food. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I am going over in June. I have many questions also. Please let me know how you make out. Check out the thread I started in the Rennlist Europe Forum. Rich

POST 3Original post

About 4 years ago my brother and I stayed in a clean, low key motel in Nurburg, the town at the center of the 'Ring, it had a cozy pizzeria/informal restaurant too. Prices were reasonable. It was pleasant, I'd stay there again. Hotel am Tiergarten , I believe it was. Try for example this link too. We'd picked up his new BMW in Munich, were on a meander road trip - we hit Nurburg in the evening, and inquired about rooms - they had plenty. The restaurant was the only thing open in town that eve, and the folks in it were enjoying themselves. This was in late March/early April as I recall - great time to tour Germany, things are just turning green, few tourists. Lovely. There were a couple Cadillacs in the parking lot (CTS-V's?) that I suspect were there for official 'Ring testing. If you stay inside the town you may be more likely to meet interesting characters, and you will certainly see interesting characters at the Ring. The Ring Taxi (once around the Nordschleife in an M5 with what's-her-name the racer at the wheel going 8/10 or so) was sold out more than a year in advance...

Thanks dave and gt3 both. I saw that other thread too.

Dave Thanks for the link, I was looking for that. Rich

POST 7Original post

You guys are killing me - that's high up on my "To Do Before I Die" list, for sure. We're spending a month in the UK over the summer, I gotta find out a way to make that happen.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A MONTH??!! Nutbeem, you should be able to squeeze it in!! I'll only have six days there, including the arrival day which we'll feel pretty special on. Our #1 priority is to go to the Ring however, and a factory tour #2 so our shorter visit will still work. We have already made an appointment for the factory tour, that seemed easy once I figured out who to email. The ring seems like a drive up, buy a ticket and go type deal excluding the isses of the rental company not wanting you to be there. I'm looking at track specific rentals or just to visit the area, we'll see.

POST 9Original post

I read in another thread that you were thinking of renting a Porsche. Just wondering if you are going to do that? Any additional info on a rental? Rich

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

GT3racerich this place rents 911's: http://www.touringingermany.com/ I was checking for pickup and drop off at Frankfurt airport. Search luxury and sport I think with their search criteria. I can't do that anymore as my Mom and Dad are going to go with me and my son. That part is unfortunate as we really wanted to do that but we are also going to see some WWII sites where my Dad's brother fought and that will be memorable too. We are still going to the Ring but will hopefully get to drive something else.

POST 11Original post

wish i could remember the name but i stayed at a nice B&B that is ajacent to the track. you can actually see and hear the cars as they cross over a little bridge. it is even pictured in GT4 video game. the owner at that time had a c32 amg wagon and an aprilia 1000sv (i think). well the second day i was on track he come blasting past me (im in a wimpy bmw 320 rental) and give me a little "salute" with his leg. he recognized my car and came by to talk to me later. he was surprised i was able to complete 9 laps in one evening session. god that was a fun couple of days.
