Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If you use the car a lot, and intend to keep it for 5 or more years, long term results indicate you would probably do better buying.
Leading evidence: 'Use car a lot, and intend' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use car a lot, and intend' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
I am still looking -- I did not get any comments to my last post -- Do I have to do all the work -- just kidding!
I was looking for a C2, but by the time I add the main options I would like -- full leather - PSM - Bose -- Metallic Paint -- The C4S starts to look like a good bet.
Dealer found me a Lapis w/ Black Leather ( I do not like the Gray Int.) 03 C4S
List is $90,110 sell $86,000 ( he has to go get it ) Lease 48 months @ $1312.00 zero down including tax.
Buy is $2104.09 x48 -- rate was 4.9 %(I think I can do better than this)
This was first call back from another dealer -- they had more stock on hand and they do a large preowned business.
Car has - supp/lumbar/ heated/ wiper /Bose/ 6CD/ xenon/ wheel crest / and some interior wood options - What do you think?
You can do better. I ran a model where you have a 60% residual, 4.9% rate, at 48 months and 8.25% tax. Comes out to $1,033 a month with zero down. Even at full retail your payments should only be $1,133 a month, so it sounds like a ripoff. Maybe they're gouging you on the interest rate. Ask them for the money factor, and multiply by 2,400 to get the interest rate, so a .0019 factor is actually a 4.56% interest rate. Factor rates is a term meant to hide from you how much you're paying.
Call them up and ask the following:
 Purchase price
 Residual
 Factor rate (money factor)
Then re-post. I'll run it through my lease calculator and get you precise, accurate numbers of what you should be paying.
If you pay their price, it'll be almost $14,000 more over the term of the lease, and you'll get nothing for it. Nothing...
Res is 52% buy out $46,857
Money is .00280 = 6.7%
miles @10K per/y .30 over per lease total of 40K
Includes $140.00 tags/doc -- 595.00 acc fee/gap -- No security fee -- 9% PA. lease tax.
Hi, if I dont get snookered, I will be receiving a 2004 c4s cabriolet with a list of 99k. The lease I was quoted is 48 mths, no money down, 10k and all taxes etc. for 1225.00 per month. My problem is I am getting conflicting reports as to delivery date. Car is in port and my dealer tells me I will have car by end of August, others dealers say end of Sept or Oct. Anybody have accurate info. and what do you think about quote. Thanks
mumanoff, michael schwartz called me today to get a message to you. he says that they just got an email from porsche telling them that c4s cab will be released end of sept.
Yeldogt, check out

for an easy way to determine if your dealer is offering a competitive lease. Lease compare offers the C4S with a selling price of $86k @ $1100/mo plus tax.
Good luck, don't settle for a crappy deal.
yeldogt: That doesn't sound right. It would give you payments of $1493 if the numbers are correct.
Sounds like the residual is very, very low. Maybe leasing companies are getting smart, but that sounds as low as any number I've ever heard on a car. Also, the factor rate sounds too high. If the interest rate these days is high 4s, why would they be charging you almost 7 for your car?
Again, doesn't sound like a good deal, and the numbers are off...
The lease numbers don't sound too good. You are probably better off buying.
Having said that, I think the choice of buy vs lease has a bit more to do than just the money out. If you use the car a lot, and intend to keep it for 5 or more years, long term results indicate you would probably do better buying. You will get penalized for extra miles on a lease, and that can dampen the fun factor. Depreciation flattens out and you actually see some equity the longer you hold on to the car. Lease is more desirable if you don't drive the car a lot, and dont intend to keep the car over 3 years. It was also more desirable in the recent past due to the high residuals of these cars, but that seems to be no more. Both scenarios presuppose you take car of the car well, as you will pay for abuse and neglect in the end in either choice. Other things, such as do you intend a lot of after-market mods or not mya direct you towards owning the car vs leasing/renting the car.
Sometimes its a question of affordability, with the lease making the car more affordable with no money down and lower monthly, but with no equity at all, much like renting a house vs buying it. You'd have no choice if affordability was the issue. It sounds like you can afford to do both. I would suggest you make a choice between leasing and buying first, THEN look for the best deal.
Good luck!!!
There is a dealership in NJ that has 2 c4s coupes 2003. I was quoted 1160.00 per month for 39 mths with 12k miles. List was about 87k and they were letting it go for about 78k. If you need their name let me know. Good luck.
Dealer is Schnieder-Nelson and the salesperson is Michael Schwartz. He comes highly recommended and is described as very honest. Tell him Eric Jackson, M.D. told you to call. By the way I ended up inking a deal to get the c4s cabriolet and the dealer will pick up my cost of extending my current lease for a month. Good luck.
mumanoff-i am happy to see that you got your deal on the c4s cab. who did you do it with? regardless of who you bought from, i can tell you that towne does have very good service. i have used them over 15 years, and they have been good. by the way, email me regarding your pain practice, as i am in bergen county and do have patients that need to see a pain doc.
