Unfortunately, this damage was done after the deal was done, in fact a week later...They owed me a clean up and final detail, and thats when the hood badge was changed...by a Service Tech "FOREMAN" on a normal Friday morning....!
Leading evidence: 'Replace ...by a service tech "foreman"' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). If it was the paint screw up that made you unhappy, I'd work on getting that right...otherwise it will always be a bone of contention.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

what would you do if the dealer's service/make ready attempted to remove and install a new hood badge, bear in mind that this is a brand spankin new 03 C2 that is now blemished by their recklessness!!!
1. Call PCNA
2. Let them paint the hood (artic silver is hard to match)
3. Allow them to switch hoods from another car they have in stock
4. Get them to cough up some $$$ for the frustration and inconvienience
Give them the chance to make it good to your satisfaction. If you switch hoods, can they move the options sticker? Do they need to shoot the entire hood or can they blend? Artic silver, especially on a brand new car shouldn't present a problem to color match. Calling PCNA would not do any good as it's like calling President Bush to bitch about the crack in your sidewalk. You may be able to get additional options for your trouble?
....BUT, when they "buffed out" the paint..they burned it, which was done by their "body shop" and NOT the service/makeready guy that started this disaster....
This all started when I wanted the hood emblem changed to the silver/black and red version that you see in AUTOMOTION and BYdesigns advertisements....they had one in stock, and I said "what the heck" put it on .....then this happens.......
I need to get some feedback from the Rennlisters out there...
Thanks in advance
Thats another good thing to mention....the salesman mentions that if we switch hoods...the stickers won't match the car, and they might think the car was in an accident, later on down the road!! That means less perceived value to the next owner, or the dealer when I return it at the lease
Sales and Service are both at my mercy...but I want to take a day or so to think about what really needs to happen here......hopefully it all works out!!!
Switching hoods involves broken paint when they remove the hinge bolts! I dont think I like that option!
.....nice bike!!

Do not switch hoods! As an aside, I wouldn't buy a car from a dealer that would do that-- do you think they will tell the next guy what they did! Sounds very underhanded to me--makes you think what they might of swapped on your car.
Your situation is complicated by the fact that you requested the emblem change. In anycase, I would only take the car if it was made perfect (which if they have to repaint in my view means its not perfect). If they can't, and you can (without $ penalities), I'd go find another 996 from another dealer, which in this market should not be very tough.
A number of issues:
Did you take delivery of the car yet?, if not, you'd be under no obligation to take it.
If you have taken delivery of the car, it's yours (and you're stuck with it). They will probably have to paint the whole hood to make it right. This can be done by a good body shop, but since these screwed up a simple ornament replacement, they may not qualify as a good shop. Maybe they just had a "flunkie" do this and you got unlucky, and it's not totally representative of their work.
You could also try parking the car on the dealer's lot and tell them you don't want it because it will never be perfect. It 's not what PCNA intended you to buy..but you'll be happy to take another one. (that's what I would do, and wait them out)
It all depends how far you are down the "sales chain" with this car, but it seems to me that you are at the Dealership's mercy (not the other way around), and you better hope it's a good dealership.
One more thing, you need to figure out exactly what you want, (not what you think you can get) and hang tough for it. Otherwise the Dealer will run circles around you.
Switching the emblem should have been an elementary job. I would refuse delivery. You will always know the hood was not perfect and why go through that brain damage on a brand new car. There are lots of cars available these days so you can find another that you will like.
If you are willing to live with a non original paint job, I would ask for a price break in addition.
Unfortunately, this damage was done after the deal was done, in fact a week later...They owed me a clean up and final detail, and thats when the hood badge was changed...by a Service Tech "FOREMAN" on a normal Friday morning....! Now why that guy didnt own-up to doing this crap is beyond me, but Ive been burned before, and I carefully and dilligently looked the area over, and saw the OBVIOUS scratches where this guy must have taken a sharp object to the area AROUND the original emblem! It only involves removing two (2) simple bolts to remove this...which baffles me even more. I will not be switching hoods, but I'm not too sure which way to lean now. Thanks for all the responses so far, please keep 'em comin'
Original Porsche paint chips easy enough. A repaint will chip much easier and in larger pieces. Personally......with the damage being on the front end, which is prone to stone chips, I would never want a re-sprayed bonnet on a new car. I would consider it a major issue. A court, however, would probably consider a repaint full remedy (which in my opinion, it is not).
Sorry to hear about the issue - that's a tough break, seeing as how it didn't need "prying" up in the first place.
I agree with Colm - decide exactly what you want now and go get it.
If it was a car you bought, I'd be more upset. Somehow, given that it's a lease makes it less of an issue because you know it's not a car you'll have in your garage in 15 years...
I'd go with a repaint of the hood - I'm pretty confident that you'll never never see the difference on a new car... AND then, I'd make them give me cash or credit equal to a second repaint that I could us in two, three years when you'll have stone chips. You could argue that the softer paint will warrant the need for a future repaint...
If it were me, I'd let them re-paint the hood for it shouldn't be hard to match the color. Then, since the new paint may be more liable to chipping, ask them to put Stonguard on front of car for protection.
1. repaint later on down the road, with guarantee in writing
2. cleargard aka X-pel on front end
3. a possible choice of tasty accessories, ie. RUF pedals/Tips or a changer
4. labor on the suspension system I can't decide on (H & R coilovers or just
the H & R springs, since its leased) which would have to include an alignment!!!
http://hobbystage.net/porsche/media....9377789-007310
WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE!!
I dont really feel that a carbon hood would make me all that happy, since the car is leased and I dont see keeping it forever...a GT2 or TT is in the future......but the suspension seems to be the way for me to go!
Whaadayya Think!
i would insist on picking the body shop for the reshoot. These guys don't seem to have a concept of high end work. Ask around and find the best shop. Also contact PCNA because usually if a service call turns stupid, like this did, the dealership "forgets" to follow the normal paper filing chain and you won't get the call for PCNA asking how everything went.
Start now to seek out a good independent for your service needs since you shouldn't trust these guys with an oil change.
Last but not least, you should let the list know the name of this dealer so we don't fall prey.
Let's face it, you're not going to get worse service as retribution.
Suspension Labor looks like the KEY to my happiness...
Now if I could only decide on springs only, because of the LEASE (48mos.) ORRRRRR.....the H&R Full coilovers!
If it was the paint screw up that made you unhappy, I'd work on getting that right...otherwise it will always be a bone of contention.
Repaint at the body shop of your choice, and then install the X pel to protect it, and everybody should be happy. ( I put X pel on all my cars and am real happy with it)
Modifications to your car are really irrelevant, and outside the scope of the problem.
The Dealer, and you, could feel good about the above solution, and nobody took advantage.
