Suggestion

I believe you can disable it with the Durametric and keep it up, not sure about changing the actuation speed though.

The garage door mod uses a targa roof switch, and is simply connected to my home garage door remote (soldered to the button terminals), which is tucked behind the center console batwing.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I like the way the spoiler looks when extended and would like to be able to have it actuate at slower speeds. I know about the switch, but, I don't want to have to reach down by my feet to make it happen. First question is can the ECU be programmed regarding spoiler actuation and retraction? Second question is, if it can be done, can it be done with the Durametric Diagnostic tool? Thanks all!! Ray

POST 2Original post

I believe you can disable it with the Durametric and keep it up, not sure about changing the actuation speed though.

POST 3Original post

I don't think you can change the speed at which the spoiler deploys with the Durametric. I added a dash switch to make actuating the spoiler more convinent, but I seldom use it. There is a DIY over at Renntech Link: http://www.renntech.org/forums/tutor...il-switch-mod/

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cool!! I looked up the mod and will add the dash switch!! I may not end up using it that much, but, I just hate the fact that I don't have control over it without reaching down to the fuse box....looks like a fun project that does not require molesting the car. The garage door opener is cool....was that a straight forward addition? Thanks, Ray

POST 5Original post

Maybe I'm in the minority but the car looks silly with spoiler deployed The fixed spoilers look good

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the constructive input - you should have yours disabled immediately and spend 8K for an aero kit to correct the silliness!!!

-1. Looks good deployed on 4S, but that is a different design.

POST 11Original post

You know what I think looks really cool? When the spoiler is deploying at speed. The spoiler moving up as the car accelerates, or slowly coming back down when you come to a quick stop. Not that I get to see it much.

The garage door mod uses a targa roof switch, and is simply connected to my home garage door remote (soldered to the button terminals), which is tucked behind the center console batwing. I think the DIY is on renntech, or maybe do a search here on rennlist.

I wish I had an aero coupe... Best looking 996

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My original 996 search was for an aero coupe.....I found 3. All of them ended up looking great, but, the engines were in sad shape.....did not pass PPI's. So, I found my bone stock 996 in excellent condition, owned by a very nice and maintenance minded older gentleman. I could not pass it up after I saw how difficult it can be to find all around solid examples. Good news is that when I go to get this car painted and in 8-10 years....I will put on an aero kit

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Frisbee, Thanks for the info....right now, I have the opener attached under the dash using velcro. It works fine, but, I like the on dash switch.....I think I will do that one in the near future.

POST 17Original post

http://www.ebay.com/itm/spoiler-cont...item3cd6f185e1 try this. I think there is two versions you might have to email him. One just has the light the other one has the option to put it up or down. with the light you know where it is which is great. I always look at it when I am hitting 120.

I agree! I deploy the spoiler with the "right foot on gas" mod! I like that I can see just the tip of it pop up in the rear window. I took out a friend's '11 997 C4 and used the button on the dash - you can't see that it is up.
