Compared to more modern units, the Fonepad is a tad slow if used for movie streaming, which i don't do on this unit.

I have replaced my head unit with a Pioneer DEH-80PRS single unit. While it is an excellent performer, there is no useful display. Hence I have purchased a mini tablet with phone functionality and Android system. It is an Asus Fonepad that is officially not available in the US and which I bought in Turkey for approx. $220. It does not have 4G, just 3G at slower speeds (google for detailed specs). I have two phone lines from ATT, one of the SIMs used in the Fonepad without any problems, including tethering and hospot. I also bought a mini pad holder from Xenomix from amazon for ca. $20. For all playback, voice guidance in google maps and calls the Fonepad connects to the head unit via bluetoot or USB. I am happy with the results and the 3G speed is more than sufficient for simultaneous playback of Spotify and navigation. The advantage of this setup is that you can simply detach the Fonepad and take it with you. It also gives me a bigger display than my HTC One. Compared to more modern units, the Fonepad is a tad slow if used for movie streaming, which i don't do on this unit. I simply jam the pad holder into the cubby in the upper rack of the lower console, connect it via USB to the head unit, which charges the unit. With an OBD reader i can read the vitals of the car, too. This installation is neither professional nor "smooth" just very convenient for my purposes. Thought i would share as an idea. Will try to attach images (trying to find out how), let me know if you have questions.
