BTW I picked up a really nice brush for the wheels (I had the same ones) and it reduced wheel cleaning by about 75% !!

With it clean I had to take some gratuitous glamour shots.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I decided to give the cab a good detailing. I knew it would take a while, but was surprised how long it took, over 4 hours, but I took my time to do it right.
I set up a tent to keep the car out of the sun, taped off the plastic and glass. Then I washed, dried it, then clay'd it, polished it, and finished it with 2 coats of sealant wax. and the results were amazing. The surface smooth as glass.
With it clean I had to take some gratuitous glamour shots.
Observations-
I'm out of shape, I have to admit I was tired and sore the next day.
Buying quality products makes the job better, I guess this is always the case.
My kids are not good at cleaning wheels, paying them a $1 a wheel didn't improve their results.
wow, looks great....
now go get it dirty
cool to get the boys helping, that's exactly what we do.....
are you heading to the track again soon?
did you enjoy the skills day?
Only 4 hours?!? I'd say you're in very good shape if you were able to complete all of those steps. I keep putting mine off because I don't think I can get it done over a weekend even...maybe time to reconsider. Your cab looks great and your workers seem to be trying hard to please Dad. Very nice.
I also did mine this weekend but didn't take any before and after pictures.
It probably took me closer to six hours though as I had to clay, polish, wax, and then detail.
One thing I tried this time that I had never done before was to wax the wheels. It has helped tremendously in terms of the amount of brake dust on them after a drive to work.
They were definitely eager to help, I had to keep them @ bay most of the time. they have a habit of dropping the towels on the driveway and getting them dirty.
Hi Ed, Thanks
You know it!
Yea they love the car almost as much as I do.
Absolutely, i'm going to try and make one of the days in Aug.
Yea it was fantastic. I learned a ton about the car and feel like I just scratched the surface on how to drive it. I'm going to do another skills day soon.
BTW I picked up a really nice brush for the wheels (I had the same ones) and it reduced wheel cleaning by about 75% !! I would get yourself one of those....a little spritz with the wheel cleaner, a little back and forth motion and POP - done!
Rejex works good too and makes it easy to keep em' clean
Looks great!!!
A buck per wheel for those wheels????? With all those spokes, they are worth at LEAST $3 each! Give me two minutes on the phone with your boys and I'll get this straighteded out for them .... er, I mean..... you! Bawhahahah!!!
Cleaning those wheels would be a union job....at the minimum 3 bucks a piece.
Get them started on 5 spooke wheels...and have them build up to multi spoke wheels.
Jim.
I like the spoiler on your cab. It makes the car look great.
I have 2000 C2 Cab,Triple black and been wanting to add the spoiler to it but haven't seen a nice one yet until now. Would youmind to tell me where to get one like your and how much would it cost me?
Thanks.
I got it from a fellow lister here - I think I paid less than $1k for it. Search for OEM carrera wing - it was factory designed for the cab. Don't worry about the color - paint is cheap. Good luck!
