Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello All,
I have had my car for nearly two months and love it and the help that people on Rennlist provide. My current situation is that I have a small blemish on the edge of the driver door that appears to be raw metal, but am not totaly sure.
The blemish doesn't feel lower than the surrounding paint, so I thought is could be polished out. However, as I did this I notived that the silver blemish wasn't getting smaller. A magnifying glass makes it appear more like raw metal, but, again, the transition doesn't feel like it is missing thickness from paint. Is the paint on these Porsches actually this thin? Or, is the paint near the door edge this thin because it is an edge. Or, is it something else? I have included two pictures of this below.
Please forgive me for not taking care of the door lock, as these pictures certainly draw attention to it. The good thing is that these pictures made me do something about it, but I am too lazy to take more pictures. I am not a total slob. Sorry.
Thanks for all your help in advance. I was hoping that colored and clear coats would be more robust and thicker than this.
One thing you could do is consult with a paint touch up guy in your area. Many car dealers have a guy that comes to their lot one day per week to do minor touchups and/or dent removals. Those guys are ususally pretty good at what they do. You might be able to have him take a look at it and tell you what is happening. He could probably respray that edge of the door for about $100.
As for your lock, contact Eric at Bumperplugs and get a Lock Plug. It makes the lock all but invisible.
Thanks Tim.
I will check with the dealer for the schedule of their detail/touch-up person. Yes, I am already in contact with Eric about bumper plugs and key lock covers.
Is it strange that the paint was so thin or is this normal? If I cleaning or polishing the car with a orbital buffer, I would be very nervous.
All comments are appreciated.
Kurt
