I read a thread on RennTech describing how to separate dials from glass in order to clean; presumably its a similar operation, but is that a "do-able" job, or one for the pro's?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, Does anyone know whether it's possible to change the colour of the 996's dials? Reason for asking is that I'm considering a particular GT3 here in the UK, but amongst the large carbon pack (which I'm not keen on, so may look to swap those items for "stock" items also) are silver backed gauges (think the surrounds are still black, however) Does anybody know if a) it's possible to change to black (with the same GT3 logo on the tacho), and b) if so, how difficult it is? I read a thread on RennTech describing how to separate dials from glass in order to clean; presumably its a similar operation, but is that a "do-able" job, or one for the pro's? Thanks Spencer.

POST 2Original post

Ive seen it done, if you do a search there are threads on this. You may even want to check renntech to see if there is a diy. Good luck..

POST 3Original post

I have read here and on RennTech that you must be VERY precise when putting the needles back on each gauge after installing the new faces. Most have recommended taking a pic of each dial so you know EXACTLY where each one should be positioned.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
