Change the rear to same brand and next time around when they are worn out, the front would also need replacing and you can change all fours to a different brand then, or through away the fronts and change all fours.

Suggestion

The results in handling and grip are unpredictable if you use different manufacturer tires for front and rear (even same manufacturer but different model fo that matter), and even if you don't push your car hard and think you don't need to have the car setup correctly, you may find yourself in an extreme situation were you may wish you did.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a S03 on the front and rear's now... the rears are almost to the wear bars.... Any adverse affects to putting different manufacturer on the rear? I guess I already know that the front could exhibit different handling characters then the rears... just looking for opinions.

POST 2Original post

The results in handling and grip are unpredictable if you use different manufacturer tires for front and rear (even same manufacturer but different model fo that matter), and even if you don't push your car hard and think you don't need to have the car setup correctly, you may find yourself in an extreme situation were you may wish you did. My advice: its not worth the risk. Change the rear to same brand and next time around when they are worn out, the front would also need replacing and you can change all fours to a different brand then, or through away the fronts and change all fours. I myself change all fours at the same time always even if the fronts can still go a little more, since I push the car hard everyday and want the car always in best shape for it.
