Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For those of you who live in the cold climes... What is you winter tire solution on a C4S for winter? Live in Pittsburgh so we get a decent amount of snow and then usually a small amount of ice.

POST 2Original post

Porsche recommends dropping down to 18x10 rear wheels for winter tires. You won't find proper winter tires in the correct sizes to fit your 18x11 summer wheels. The 18x10 rear wheels do look a bit sunken in to the body, so I use Porsche 17mm rear spacers with my winter wheels. Tire choice is slim. Porsche recommends the Pirelli Winter Sport 240. They are impossible to find. I've been using Bridgestone Blizzaks for the last 5 years and they are good. My only complaint about them is that the "Blizzak magic" seems to go away long before the tread is worn down to the bars. They are only good for about three seasons, depending of course on how much you drive.

POST 3Original post

I'm in Chicago, same OEM set up as Dennis with 18x10 and spacers in the back with narrow body carrera lightweights.

POST 4Original post

same here in Denver. Got an OEM set on craigslist with 18x10 rears. Use Blizzaks and car handles great in Denver and up in the mountains. I dont hesitate to take it up the mountains unless snow gets too deep. People who keep their cars in the garage over the winter are missing out.

POST 6Original post

I run 17" turbo twist wheels for the winter w/ Dunlop winter sport tires on my C4 - it's a great setup and I'd highly reccomend it. Got everything from the Tire Rack.

POST 7Original post

I don't think 17" wheels will fit on the C4S because of the larger brakes.

POST 8Original post

Damon at Tirerack recommends the following tires for the C4S if running on the standard 11" wheels. 225/40R18 BS BLIZ LM60 XL 275/35R18 BS BLIZ LM60

POST 9Original post

Porsche recommends a 265 width for the rear tires (with a 10" wheel). I wouldn't deviate from the Porsche recommendation.
