A VIN of a car fitted from the factory with an X51 engine will get the same.

About all that can be said for the replacement engine is it will be from the 1st to the last one off the engine line for that model year or model years run of cars.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hope this is not a re-post but Suncoast has a really good deal on remanufactured motors. No affiliation blah blah blah ...

Probably not.

Thus for a 1999 to 2004 Carrera it will have whatever bearing setup was in production at the time the engine was built or reworked if say the engine came back out of a car that was in for a warranty claim for a noisy IMS bearing.
Note the ad asks for a VIN. So unless I guess you override this somehow a 1999 or 2000 car will get a 3.4l engine while later MYs will get a 3.6l engine.
A VIN of a car fitted from the factory with an X51 engine will get the same. And so on.
The remanufactured 996 engine should have the newer larger bearing unless these have been in stock at Suncoast forever which I doubt. Since the engine is on a pallet they can always measure the nut to see which bearing is in there. While the larger bearing is supposedly better it can not be replaced without splitting the case, so kind of a plus with a minus...
I'm guessing they are asking for a VIN to help you make sure you get the "correct" engine for your car, however I don't see why you couldn't just tell them exactly what you want, i.e. if you have a '99 Boxster and want a Turbo engine on your shelf just for decoration I'm sure they'd sell you one....
I have a 996 engine out of my '99 cabriolet for sale... it ain't no turbo but will be much less than one of these refurb ones! I had it checked out and documented before it was removed for my
electric conversion
, but guessing the buyer would probably want to change out IMS while the motor was out. Approx 111K miles, well maintained. Can include electronics as well... along with almost any other parts I've removed that might have to do with the ICE (internal combustion engine). I should have a full list of items available in a week or so.
