Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Well the clutch and flywheel CAN be replaced but the owner needs to spring for that.

Keeping in mind that the engine may have been replaced under warranty.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Folks,
I'm looking at buying the following car and need your opinions on value:
99 996 C2 with limited options if any.
- 6 speed sunroof coupe
- Factory OEM Aero kit installed (not as a dealer or factory option, but factory parts).
- 3 owner car
- Currently has 80k miles, but engine was replaced in '03 at 55k miles
- ROW m030 suspension just installed
- replica MY02 5-spoke 18" wheels with new tires.
- one accident in carfax on otherwise clean title.
- no evidence of respray or overspray
- normal amounts of wear on interior and exterior (scratches, rock chips, etc).
- no records other than engine replacement
- assume ppi checks out fine.
It's not concourse, but not badly beaten either.
What would be the range this car should be worth (ie. from lowball range to reasonable value at private sale)?
Thanks in advance.
Also, when the engine gets replaced, does the clutch and flywheel also get replaced?
The accident would raise a red flag. Ask if they have pictures of the accident and check to see if the repair job was done correctly. Were there other accidents that pervious owners paid out of pocket? PPI is a must in this. Pricing is tough. $28K seems to be generous.
Only $25k?
Even with only 25k on the new engine? Not that I'm challenging, just a bit surprised....
Accident repair seems to be done properly. No evidence of it detectable. It might be why the aero kit was installed, front headlight seems to have been replaced (different shade of amber on the turn signal).
Keeping in mind that the engine may have been replaced under warranty. It shouldn't factor that much in resale value. However, it would give the prospective owner a better piece of mind in buying it.
yeah. see above on the 01 c4. prices are dropping, from what i gather and the accident that replaced the front automatically gets a 10-15% price drop in my book. in a seller's market it'd be a different story but, it's currently a buyer's market.

I know the going rate for cars with original engines, but I wasn't sure what added value the replaced engine with all the updates would bring. Apparently not that much to the actual sale price...
I think 25k also- I have been thinking of selling my 99 2 owner no accident car with only 36K and was thinking I would do good at 30K in the market right now.
Most cars are not bringing book these days- esp. 996 but I would love it if i could. I dont need to sell so I will just drive it a little longer and wait on my TT
Is that the US car on PCA UCR and autotrader? I think it can be had for high 20s pending a PPI in Ontario. There are lots of 99s to choose from.
I'm beginning to debate if i can take a chance on a 99 996 too. Good Luck.
