Would you consider this a good value for those who might want an extremely clean car?

A good used 996 should have between 30k to 60k miles, I think
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
I came across this clean 996 today. I realize the asking price is high and closing in on 997 pricing territory, but this car only has 5000 miles on it!
Would you consider this a good value for those who might want an extremely clean car? I did read about IMS issues and the connection to potential failures due to 996's that just sit in the garage most of the time, so I actually wonder if this car's high asking price (start of bidding) is worth it.
Opinions anyone?

The asking price is stratospheric for a straight 996 coupe. With those low miles something in the mid $30s might be understandable. Bruce Anderson's/Excellence's rule of thumb is add 10% for low miles. He has the 2004 coupe topping out at $34k. But there are just too many 996s in the world to pay a big premium for low miles.
Some nice options and it looks clean. But the pictures are not high resolution enough to make judgements about the real condition of the car. You would need much better pictures or an in-person inspection, as low-miles does not always equate to outstanding condition.
As for low miles and maintenance... who really knows? But I do know this - the original owner of my car had a lot of work done under warranty in the first 20k miles. This car is now way past any dealer support.
It looks like a nice car, but agree that it is way overpriced. If you really like it, get the value off NADA and email him about it with the supporting value.
If I remember correctly from my recent search, mid 30s is about right for a low mileage 04 coupe
+1, mid 30's; standard C2, interior ( besides PSM). It should only bring a premium if paint, interior, engine, undercarriage are pristine. PPI, It needs mods.
Agreed, it is a pretty clean car, but it is also a pretty plain car too. Given that the car has such low miles, it is has a high probability that it has the original engine, and the possible RSM/IMS issues that go with the original engine.
I think that it is priced too high as well, with its perceived selling point that it has such low miles. For that version of the 996, low miles is a major disincentive, and a good indication that expensive engine updating is lurking in the future.
low miles is not always the best thing. a car that sits in the garage for years is not a best buy. Unless it is a rare collector item that will not be driven anyways.
I'd rather by a car with more miles. A good used 996 should have between 30k to 60k miles, I think
If your goal is to drive her (10k miles+ per year) this might not be worth the price IMO. Its attractive to have a low miles car, but if you are going to drive her and add miles you will take a gamble on finding out future issues that might have been taken care of if you buy a car with more miles for less. Make sure you find some type of warranty if you decide to pull the trigger on this one. Good luck!
Look for an 04 Anniversary Edition instead. They came with lots of extras and the power enhanced X51 engine. This limited edition car has way better appreciation. New or upgraded engine/IMS is preferred!
CARFAX leaves me with a lot of questions! 2004 car, first event recorded is NJ registration in 2006, then nothing until 2009 and 2010 for registration renewal. No mileage on all 3 events. Seems kind of strange to me!
