Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone ever shipped or had shipped to them a hard top? If so, how did you make sure that it was shipped properly? I'm looking at buying one that is about 600 miles away.

POST 2Original post

I sold mine to a guy 500 miles away and we met in the middle. I wouldn't ship it. Too much of a chance to have it damaged

POST 4Original post

Definately try to get a meeting in the middle. A perfect excuse to drive the P-Car 300 miles each direction! $60 in gas and a spirited drive is the better deal.

POST 5Original post

Have a local shipping company build a crate and pack it.

POST 6Original post

Brumos tried making a crate to ship a hard top to me. It was damaged in the process two times. I finally gave up on it and was lucky to find one locally. I also recommend picking it up yourself. Make sure you get the cover plate and wrench with the top.

POST 7Original post

You should take it to a pack and shipper who will guarantee it. It has to be truck shipped so the rates are going to be high, whether you do it or have a pro do it.
