Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I cleaned off the Y fitting at the top to see if I could find any cracks but didn't.

I still am thinking about replacing the AOS before reinstalling the engine even though it may not be bad, depending on cost.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is this the AOS that I read so much about?
It looks like it has been blowing oil on the block for quite a while. I cleaned off the Y fitting at the top to see if I could find any cracks but didn't.
It looks the oil is coming from the open tube- am I missing something?
Not really sure where to start with this, so any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks- John
aos on opposite corner of motro (behind drivers seat, flywheels side)
that's a mess... might be aos sending excess air thru that tube... I woould sway ip, clean the motor and see what happens in time.
seriously, thats dirty... why is it so oily looking behind the pulley
I think this is the culprit- looks like a little check valve gone bad. I guess I will start there. I hate to install engine and find out I need an AOS. Maybe I will price it and just replace if it isn't too pricey.
The AOS area looks fine and the car runs fine. I never saw this area untill I pulled the engine and trans to upgrade the IMS bearing. I have never seen one drop of oil or any fluid under my car in the 7 months I have had it.
I did pull apart the connection to the crank case and the AOS line and will inspect in A.M. The fitting that the line goes into, goes into the block and there is a bolt that secures it. I was thinking of pulling it, and sealing it in case that was the leak, and tightning the bolt.
I still am thinking about replacing the AOS before reinstalling the engine even though it may not be bad, depending on cost. This area is accessible, the AOS is not.
Barn 996- I hope you are wrong about something else being broken! I will check.
