Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

1) What size are the wheels; 2) What are the biggest tires that will fit (will the 285 fit in the rear and if so is it 285/35 or /30) 3) If so, do I have to change the size of the fronts; and 4) Do the 285's fill out the wheel wells any better w/o the need for spacers.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I know there are prior threads but I just need a comprehensive summary. I have a 2000 C2 w/ 18" Turbo Look wheels. The tire sizes are 225/40 and 265/35. 1) What size are the wheels; 2) What are the biggest tires that will fit (will the 285 fit in the rear and if so is it 285/35 or /30) 3) If so, do I have to change the size of the fronts; and 4) Do the 285's fill out the wheel wells any better w/o the need for spacers.

POST 2Original post

The wheels you have should be: 7.5" x 18" - ET50 10" x 18" - ET65 But, look here for possible size combinations.

POST 3Original post

Yes, the fronts should be 7.5 and the rear 10. A lot of people go with 285X30 in the rears instead of the 265X30. The only problem that most people say is that you will increase the amount of understeer you already have by going with a wider tire in the rear and not increasing the width in front. I know some people have put a 235 on the front with the 7.5 wheel, but most people will tell you that if you want to go wider than a 225 up front you should get new wheels that are 8.0 or 8.5. This will give you more grip up front and reduce understeer. I am no expert on the topic, but this seems to what I have read.
