Me and my mechanic cant see any repair work but the dealer represented this as a trouble free car and my chances of selling it are now greatly hampered.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Bought my car a couple months ago from a used car dealer in North Carolina. The owner's son owned the car and printed out a carfax and said there were no problems. I am now in the middle of selling it and the person who was "going to" buy it said there is an accident reported. I said no way I have a car fax from the last dealer. What the dealer had done is give me the car fax overview which all said ok. BUt when I printed out the entire report it says accident reported in 11/01 involving rear impact with a tree causing moderate damage. Me and my mechanic cant see any repair work but the dealer represented this as a trouble free car and my chances of selling it are now greatly hampered. Ive put in a call to the dealer and am awaiting their return call. What now???

POST 3Original post

If a private party was the seller you'd have a good case for fraud. However, I'd venture to say that the sales form used by a used car dealer probably has a lot of fine print to the effect that there are no reps or warranties and that you're buying the car as is, where is. One suggestion: since the dealer is licensed, you might make a complaint to the state's licensing bureau which might have a procedure for addressing situations like yours.

POST 4Original post

Call the state attorney's office and ask. Also call your state's business fraud department (it may be state attorney's office) and report it. Also place a call to the Better Business Bureau. Be prepared to get the "it's your responsibility to confirm the information given to you" answer, especially when dealing with a Carfax report, which is something you can do on your own. Good Luck!
