This is not a probability of success.

I can see the motivation for dealers cleaning up up inventory for year end, but suspect pressure is to sell stale new inventory (leftover '04s and slow selling 997 Carrera - not S), not pre-owned cars.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in the market for a Porsche and have narrowed my search to a pre-owned 996 C4S or Turbo. The lease on my current car ends in one month. I'm interested in folks views on when to time my full court press on dealers. I'm looking for low mileage certified cars. They are a fair number of cars to choose from within driving distance for me (NYC). Do you think dealers feel any more pressure to move pre-owned cars by year end? Are odds increased of getting a great deal between xmas and new years versus waiting till January/February? I can see the motivation for dealers cleaning up up inventory for year end, but suspect pressure is to sell stale new inventory (leftover '04s and slow selling 997 Carrera - not S), not pre-owned cars. Thoughts? Thanks. -Stephen

I don't think pre-own and new make a difference. Either way, buy month end in Dec or Jan bc it's the stale season. Dec may be better than Jan month end. If pre-owned, make sure you take the time to get the car inspected and get the right one with the color/options you want. Don't settle for something you aren't going to be happy with.
