Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You know, it varies from car to car and to be honest, other than when I was inspecting the car at sale I don't ever remember seeing them on, so missed the obvious.

funny, I had the same "problem" also when I installed my clear side markers also.

Let's see if I'm remembering correctly - Does the silcone glue that you recommend have a consistency of caulk, rubbery and peelable?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Okay, I'll admit that I'm not well educated when it comes to working on my car... especially this car, which I've only had a few months.
Here's the deal. I just installed clear side markers. Easy job right? Well, the install went well, but they're not working and I'm confused as to why and hopefully someone can tell me the dumbass thing that I did so that I can fix it.
This job is as easy as pulling off the old markers, pulling off the retaining clip, pulling off the wiring harness and reversing the process.
So, that being the case, why do neither of them now work?
I looked at the fuse diagram and saw that the indicators share the same fuse as the power windows (odd combination). The other indicators seem to be working well, as do the power windows, what am I missing?
No valid question, I also thought that.
It appears that they both have bulbs in.
I also tried reinstalling the old markers and they also failed to work.
yup, my wife put the multimeter on the harness an found no power going to them when I had th indicators on.... that's why I first thought of the fuse, but then realized that if that were to blame, then all of the indicators would be out... at that point I exhausted my expertise and thought someone here could help, as I know a lot of you have done the same job.
I think the fuse is a stand alone 7.5A marked as "Side marker light". The fuse is not part of the indicators since the side marker is not even on the same ciruit as the directional indicators (side markers do not blink). The fuse you're lookkng at (shared by directional indicator and power windows) is a 15A, right?

..and therein lies the obvious (embassing) mistake that I figured we would find eventually. I didn't realize that they didn't also come on with the indicators. Once I turned on the side lights all worked fine.
Thanks for your help.... this is where I walk away with a temporarily red face.
You know, it varies from car to car and to be honest, other than when I was inspecting the car at sale I don't ever remember seeing them on, so missed the obvious. I'm glad that others out there pay more attention than I do.
Yup, your package was waiting for me when I got home and I eagerly set to work. These 'simple' jobs should give me confidence to start to modify the car.
I'm at the start of the learning curve. I like the clear markers... they look good now that the match the rear lights.
...onto the decor rings next, once I get some double sided tape. Let's see if I'm remembering correctly - Does the silcone glue that you recommend have a consistency of caulk, rubbery and peelable?
Go with the double sided emblem tape. Much easier, and relatively fool proof (no direct accusation of you being a fool intended).
Just do it. You'll be taking the door panels off before you know it!
Firstly, thanks for the order - nice gear.
Secondly, believe me, right now my aspirations are ahead of my capabilities. Once the two catch up, then my car is in real trouble.
Now, to justify being called a fool... I'm looking at the photos of the decor rings and I'm trying to figure out which way is up... by feeling the fit against the gauge face I think that the thicker, slanted side is the bottom, is that correct?
OK, now that you have got the side maekers and gauge rings nailed, your next assignment, Mr. Phelps, is to install a short shifter. This message will self-destruct in 10 seconds!
Good for you! That puts you well ahead of the game. Let's see, what else can I spend your money on? You know, it's kinda fun spending other people's money. Now I understand why my wife and daughter get so much pleasure out of spending my money!
I usually need no encouragement to spend money on toys... although considering what I've spent on the car this year. I have to be careful not to stretch my wife's patience too much.
