Second to the plenum, I highly recommend the EVO cold air induction.

Anyone using a chip or upgraded air intake on their car?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone using a chip or upgraded air intake on their car? My engine is bone stock on my car. I was just wondering what after market options I have in that area. The car is plenty fast, but since I have access to a race shop and engine builder, I was looking to modify a few simple things in the engine department...

I have the following N/A mods: RSS plenum, GIAC flash, Billy Boat headers & mufflers, and EVO CAI. Second to the plenum, I highly recommend the EVO cold air induction. The sound as your car approaches redline is incredible. Unlike mufflers, it only makes extra noise during hard acceleration. Combined with the plenum, it makes you want to redline every shift.
Just checked out the link to the RSS plenum. They claim +25 HP and +22 lb-ft torque for the 3.4 engine. Can this be possible? Can the stock plenum be that ineffiecient? Has anyone verified this on a chassis dyno?

Somewhere, somebody has a file prepared for defending this in the event that the company gets taken to court for making false claims. So, my guess is that one day, with one car, on one dyno, under one particular set of specific circumstances, they achieved a delta in PEAK horsepower as big as they claim.
But no.
Expect +12hp from the plenum.
Expect +10hp from the EVO CAI
These will max out your intake, to get more you'll need to flash your ECU and enhance your exhaust.
Expect +10hp using 100 cell catalytic converter inserts.
Expect +5hp with "reasonable" mufflers (suggest RSR)
And you can always add another 25hp backfitting the X51 option...
I got quite a bit of performance upgrade with the Revo ecu enhancement and the Evo V-flow intake. I will soon install the RSS Plenum which has just come in. Great upgrades for the cost and you can feel the results. Will do a new dyno once the Plenum is insalled. Other upgrades that I have done to enhance the sound are the Fab speed headers and the PSE. There is some HP gain here but not as much as with the other upgrades, but it's the sound that I love with the headers and PSE. Had a dyno done last year with all of the enhancements except the Plenum and I was able to get 380HP at the engine and about 330 lb/ft with the torque.

I just did everything. ( K&N air charger, IPD plenum, headers, cats, mufflers, Revo 2 )
The car is like a rocket compared to before. I recommend it all. But if you dont want to louden it up, maybe just try the aftermarket free flow cats. That will free up the air out and not give the louder mufflers sound.
Sure enough. I sent an email to RSS asking for some dynamometer data, and they sent me just such a graph. I tried to post the jpg file, but it seems you have to be a Rennlist member to post pics? Anyway, if anyone wants to see this graph, you can PM me and I will email it to you.

Has anyone installed the RSS Plenum & EVO CAI on an X51 motor? How about REVO ECU? Just wondered if any of these mods were worth the $$$ to add to my X51 motor with upgraded exhaust.
Thanks
Mike
EVOMS + GIAC is a solid, reliable combo... but I have big doubts that any chip.intake adds any sort of real power.
I would do the intake again because of the noise. It's awesome.
what exhaust system did you go with?
I did IPD/RSS plenum and Evoms airbox and this woke it up for sure. I want to do exhaust and code update - just takes $$$$$$$$$
It may be that 997s have the most efficient design in the stock already. For example, the MK1 ECU flash on the '99 yielded better results than the later models.
