Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The rear mounts on my 03C4S are done. I am not sure if I should stick with OEM or time to do some upgrade. Will stiffer mount causing any potential damage to the transmission or other engine components? What do you recommend? Brand? Where to buy? Thx M

POST 2Original post

I wish I had some advice for you but I only have a question: How did you determine the engine mount was worn or needed to be replaced?

POST 3Original post

You have two choices: 1) X73 motor mounts (hard rubber) 2) RS motor mounts (alum, I believe) Both can be purchased from www.carnewal.com

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 5388023

If your engine/car vibrates at idle more so than before and/or harder to shift during corners it COULD be worn motor mounts.

POST 5Original post

Wevo also makes a nice mount: http://www.wevo.com/Products/Chassis...gineMounts.htm

POST 6Original post

Solid motor mounts (cup car parts) solved the problem we were having with getting caught between gears when shifting under duress. Like a 2nd to 3rd shift at full throttle coming out of a corner. The downside is that it will increase noise and vibration in a street car. The semi-solid or X74 might be a nice compromise.

Probably less NVH than going with a solid/harder transmission mount?

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 5388353

Hey Arnee. I'm not sure what NVH is? I'm pretty sure I'll feel like an idot when you tell me. I'm told a solid transmission mount will literally shake the car apart. That is if you can stand the noise long enough. Not something you want to do to a street car. Jim

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 5388386

Sorry for the acronym.. NVH = noise/vibration/harmonics

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 5388424

Thanks for the correction. I've always been mistaken thinking it was harmonics.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1. Vibration 2. tail pipe clearence to bumper dropped by 3/4" (my case) M

POST 14Original post

Did you actually look at the motor plate? Is one side lower than the other? Is the nut on the through bolt just backed off? (probably not but who knows) I would not use a solid mount on the streets, the vibrations will reverberate throughout the car IMO. Plenty experience on this but on other cars.

Yes, one side is lower than the other. Pretty sure is the mount! Checked several suppliers: WEVO-does not have one for 03C4S TRG-only have Solid mount Thinking about using the 993RS mount, but not sure if it will fit!
