Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Did you guys know the 996 hood crest is more than double the price of the 997 version at least based on the quote I got at the dealership? Turns out the 996's is much more intricate and 3D than the flatter, simpler, smoother 997 crest. I got a chuckle of out it for some reason.

POST 2Original post

When you close your trunk, push on the hood and not the crest and you won't need to buy a new crest anytime soon.

I dont know about that, I have never used the crest to close my hood and it fell off anyways.

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 7748568

We are still talking about the hood crest...... right?

POST 5Original post

yes the 997 is smoother and uglier... dont cheap out, but the good one..... BTW the GT3 RS has a sticker.... its all about weight savings to the MAX ! @ 0:58 that said the 2011 RS I was just in yesterday has a real badge...

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 7748626

yes, nothing else has fallen off..................................yet

POST 7Original post

The hood crest on the 997 cars changed midcycle. I believe they started going with the ones with a smooth clear finish on it in MY08.

POST 8Original post

I got the new 997 one.. It was just not all that big of a deal to me.

POST 9Original post

since that other thread (the all you need to know about consoles) was a fail.... anyone have pics of the 997 vs 996 badge. Slow day on RL.

POST 11Original post

I have a gold one I can part with if anyone needs one....Ed it won't work on your car.....

POST 12Original post

Like that would stop Ed!

The Porsche manual on the 997 indicates you should press down on the crest in order to properly close the hood. I would not suggest pressing down on the aluminum hood to close the trunk.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 7749223

I usually just lower it than hit it dead center with the heel of my shoe until it finally closes.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 7749250

I guess that's better than having a fat chick sit on the hood.

POST 16Original post

NO - you said the dreaded words that cannot be said ---- Tim will surely post the pic now :ewe: PM sent on the non-fitting parts

POST 17Original post

Depends on what you're into.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 7748556

How do you close your trunk by pressing on your Hood? A Hood, or Bonnett covers the ENGINE.. the Trunk covers the luggage compartment.

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 7749633

The luggage compartment is also referred to as the "boot", just in case any one prefers to use the phrase.

POST 23Original post

I looked at the two different crests about a month ago at the dealership. They are very hard to tell apart when side-by-side in your hands. The 996 crest is actually a teensy bit heavier. And it is a whole lot more expensive. So I opted for the 996 part number. No point in going cheap and incorrect. It would bother me forever.

I CAN'T!!! I don't have that pic on the computer in Greenville. It's on the computer in Dallas. Maybe it's on my thumb drive at the office.

POST 26Original post

Quotes source post: 7750248

now THAT is sad !! Tim, do you mean to tell me you keep THAT pic on your thumbdrive, in your pocket, traveling around the country awe man, you should NOT have let me know THAT!! where's Wayne !!

POST 27Original post

That one pic fills up a 4 gig thumb drive!!! I don't need to explain why. Actually, I loaded a lot of my personal/business directories on that thumb drive so I could access them in either location. I don't recall if I copied the pic directory or not.

POST 28Original post

I am a bit curious about this picture. I have a feeling it will not make its way to the "I'd hit it" thread.
